That's surprising. I see this as a chance though. If the next coach teaches KP to set some hard screens it is a huge W.

Bad move, man, really bad move.
I understand the want to refresh the whole organization with Luka on board, but RC is the best asset this team has after Luka.

LMAO
Luka is so good his starting 5 got traded. Now his GM of 24 years gets canned. And his head coach of 13 seasons resigns.
Im telling you, you cant make this up. This is reality show gold.

Maybe Cuban hires Scott Brooks. I hear he's good with managing young players' egos.

Finally!!!!
This front office needed a reset big time.
Best coach in franchise history and forever grateful, but he had to go. It was time.
So excited for the next chapter

S**t is getting real.
I think a good move for the Mavs. I respect what RC has done, but there were too many times they seemed to have no coherent plan this year.
Of course it all depends on who they replace him (and Donnie) with.

Rick's uptight handling of the team and the vets won't work in 2021. Team needed a fresh start and Luka is ready to compete now. Maybe Cuban tries something from left field and hires Becky Hammon as the first femsle head coach. Get good PR and stuff.

Btw. he has a contract so shouldn't we expect some package before he can sign somewhere else? No such thing as stepping down. He can retire sure.

On the flip side, Nerlens Noel and DSJ can come back now. Josh Green leaves Carlisle's dog house and gets more playing time.

RC has 2 years left on his deal. Maybe a buyout?

Wow! Have to say I’m floored. I honestly don’t think this has anything to do with Carlisle having interest in the Bucks or Celtics jobs. This is directly related to whatever the hell Cuban is doing behind the scenes. I’d say it’s safe to say that he wasn’t happy with Donnie being fired. Or maybe Cuban has decided to bring back the analytics nerd and wasn’t happy about that.

This looks like a protest resignation. No other way to see it. If that's the case, Mark Cuban looks terrible.
The first thing that needs to happen is that Cuban needs to talk to the media... and soon. And if this effects the Doncic signing, this town won't forgive him.

Re: Carlisle resigns as Dallas Coach
For Mavs Fans who truly followed the teamfor at least two decades now, do you honestly think the Rick Carliske and Donnie Nelson combo is enough to take you to the promised land in 2021? I dont think so. This is a win fellas.
Lots of good candidates.
Chauncey Billups
Mark Jackson
Sam Cassell
Becky Hammon
Mike D'Antoni
And Doc Rivers if the Sixers lose to ATL

He resigned, technically, Cuban can go to court and sue him for breach of contract (unless he has a clause), realistically, they both wish each other best of luck, and RC can go choose whichever team he wants coach away from this madness.
The only bright side of this, there's a chance for a coach that will utilize KP better.
