Re: Who will coach the Celtics in 2021-22?
Carlisle hasn't won a playoff series in 10 years while having Dirk or Doncic as his main guy. Both of whom could end up as top 50 players of all time.
Stevens made 3 ECFs w/ IT, Horford, and Tatum as his best players.
Maybe winning in the East is easier. Let's ask Doc who has an MVP runnerup lol.

I would be so damn happy if this is the result.

Stein is the most plugged in dallas reporter out there. Read between the lines.
I think Stein used to be good, but now he's just a lazy hack. And I'm not saying I even think Carlisle would be a good fit for the Celtics. Just an opinion I've had for a few years in general.
He is incredibly close to Carlisle from his time in Dallas. I think its clear who fed him the rumor lol

I heard the same, and I've suspected Cassell might be the guy for a couple of weeks now.

Don’t think Carlisle is right for the Celtics at this time but that’s just my opinion.
Carlisle has had big problems relating to players. Not what the Celtics need at this moment

Just the optics don't add up with the Bucks still in the playoffs, and could still win.

Carlisle would be epic, i start drooling imagining Tatum in his offensive schemes. No more more weak ISO ball.
The 2024 NBA Champions Boston Celtics depth chart:
Guards: Holiday, White, Pritchard
Wings: Tatum, Brown, Hauser
Bigs: Porzingis, Horford, Kornet

Top priority seems like having a coach who will have a good relationship with Tatum (and Brown if we keep him). All the other stuff (Xs and Os, player dev, etc) can be handled via assistants.
Stars league, not coach's league. Goal is to keep your generational talent and attract more stars.

And Carlisle has had major issues relating to players

Not a fan of Cassell.
Billups, Atkinson or Carlisle would be my choices.

Re: Who will coach the Celtics in 2021-22?
I think that the Celtics' next Coach has already been picked.
They're probably still involved in the Playoffs.
Therefore, they won't announce it, until their season is over.
Cause, with 7 Coaching vacancies (to date), it's Too Quiet around Casa de Celtics.

NO - Has Zion and 5 years of control left could easily be more desirable than Boston if things go south and Tatum Brown want out in the next 2 years.
Atlanta - Agreed plus McMillian is probably the guy
Milwaukee- Agreed
Dallas - see NO. They have longer control of their star player. Also no state tax there.
Washington - easily the worst situation out of the 7 openings.
Indiana - Not sure where I'd rank this one but its probably like 6 out of 7.

Maybe hire RC as an assistant. Let's him have time to Calc next step. Next HC should hire several quality, experienced coaches. And add PP to the assistant coach stable.

That's the Way of the World

But what about Ferris Bueller’s cousin who saw him at 31 Flavors?

NO v. Boston. Tatum v. Zion. It's a no brainer. Tatum has proven himself and the ownership is 10x better. And they have Brown. The clock is ticking on Zion, just like all the other players to spend a layover in NO.

I think Brown Tatum and Zion are all good as gone when they hit UFA. So my logic is just who gets the star player longer. Plus they'll probably keep Lonzo and Ingram.

I have no idea why people feel the need to buy into this narrative that Tatum is "gone" when he gets to UFA. He's shown no signs of that and stands to make the most money here. Could it happen? Sure. But there is nothing to suggest that he would at the moment.

Carlisle is nearly as old as Ainge. They should really avoid guys who played in the Ainge and Carlisle era. The league is much softer and sensitive nowadays. Cassell and Billups are safer choices, although I prefer Billups due to his age.
