Kemba for Horford: your take?

Walker, Taxes Danger: Boston wins, shedding salary (and possible luxury tax impact) on a player who didn't fit well, and getting back a player who has.

Talk the Talk, Walk the Walker: OKC wins, doing right by Horford and getting another 1st rounder.

Sky-Walker: both teams win. Boston saves money for a better fit, OKC just keeps on banking assets.

Dead Man Walker: both teams lose. Boston is now down yet another asset for a short-term gain at best, and OKC now has to make *another* trade to undo the effect of this one for a middling pick they didn't even need.

Why surprised Chuck? Feels like the board nailed that one. Or I guess that's the reason to be surprised.

So my first thought is Brad is already smarter than Danny in that he didn't mess around, traded a mediocre pick to get rid of a guy who doesn't want to be there and bring a player who can help bring some stability. Danny wouldn't have gotten this done imo.

Presti is still in asset mode, but he also followed through on his promise to Al and probably moves Kemba on again.

Feels about right and we certainly discussed all around this.

This deal seemed obvious for months.

Love Presti. What he’s doing with this rebuild is beyond impressive.

I like Stevens coming out and fixing issues instead of just building around edges.

Selfishly… This does end one avenue for Dallas to get extra value for KP, in a Kemba swap. So I don’t love it for Dallas.. Did Brad call Dallas and offer Kemba and 16+ for KP? Or not even call Dallas and Realgm is right about KP value atm? Did Dallas say no? Or did Brad try and call Dallas but there’s literally no one at work in Dallas to answer the phone and say Yes? Sad.

But I’d say this is Presti winning another trade.

Timing. When was the last time we had a trade like this in the 2nd round?

Surprised to see Moses Brown thrown in, but the value seems fair.

That's fair. Though isn't the timeline more compressed this year due to the late start?

Buyout kemba who then goes to lakers? Would chuck still think the system is okay then?

Surely they cant extract even more value from kemba... Not many worse contracts left and i dont think he will waste a year like horford did

Moses is a 3rd stringer on a good team. He isnt as good as his stats might indicate. Still young enough to get it together but he has some McGee in him, both athletically and between the ears.

I think he got a bit overhyped off some big rebounding games. He does nothing offensively besides rebound, and while he gets some blocks with his athleticism, the same can be said on defense. Pretty confident OKC fans would back me up here

I would expect OKC to ask for at least 15-20 million. Unlike Horford, Kemba's deal is guaranteed.

I saw the word WOJ, then read the trade, and thought, thats not WOJ, that is the same damn trade every single time. Honestly thought I was misreading.

He can waive his trade kicker amount in exchange for buyout?

When was the last time we had someone doing trades like Presti did in the last draft ?

For a rebuilding team , he’s exciting . For a playoff team, I’m not sure where he getting his minutes.

I wonder if there’s some salary matching incentive for OKC to execute this in the current year as opposed to waiting until the new league year. Kemba gets a raise while Horford has a slightly declining salary. I wonder if executing in the ‘20-21 season prevents them from having to use cap space.
