The general thinking around NO is that Ingram doesn't fit next to Zion - both need the ball in their hands a lot and both aren't much on defense. Still Ingram has a lot of value.

- Our 2023 pick is top 14 protected for them from 2023 until 2026. If Miami aren't in the lottery they will more than likely be in the 20-30 range when OKC make the selection. Precious was the 21st pick who they can get now rather than 2yrs from now.

- OKC now have 11 FRPs and 9 SRPs in the next 3 drafts not including our 2023 FRP.

- Now that OKC have traded Horford their only Centers are Mike Muscala and Moses Brown.

- Precious might not have been it for us but he'll put up good numbers in OKC with more playing time, a starting role and no pressure to win especially with a PG like SGA.

- Despite Precious' struggles this season he was still 14.8ppg/10.2rpg/1spg/1.4bpg per 36mins without any preseason with us.

So y’all think OKC does all of this to get the first round picks just to throw one away on what Precious COULD be? The whole point of them tanking is to draft the best available and if they want to flip picks for stars, they have the draft capital to do so. I’d imagine that Poku would start at the five for them anyway. Even if he isn’t, they could find one to sign on the cheap and develop them just like they did with Moses instead of throwing a pick away.

OKC aren't hoarding picks to trade for a star, It's OKC... No one's going to request to go to or stay at OKC if they are traded there. They are going to build through the draft like they did the first time around with Durant, Westbrook and Harden.

The quicker they can put together a core that works, the better off they'll be and they'll be able to continue improving their team rather than letting it flame out like they did with Harden and Durant. Pokusevki is 7ft and 190lbs he's not playing center full time for them. He could probably play the PF role next to Precious if he continues to develop.

It's hardly throwing away a pick... Your trading a pick that's potentially 2-6yrs from now for a 21yo you can start developing now with solid potential. Trading 1 of their 38 picks over the next 6yrs isn't going to prevent them from making any of the moves you're talking about.

OKC aren't a free agent destination so even signing someone on the cheap that's even half good isn't really viable. They don't have to sign someone on the cheap when they can have Precious for 2.7mil per for 3yrs.

1) A natural scorer that can create 3's for himself, get to the line, and create for others. Somebody capable of going for 40 multiple times in a series (defenses are a joke). Guys like KD, Embbid, Mitchell, Booker, Beal, T.young.

2) The second most important thing is overall team 3 point shooting. Meaning taking a lot of 3's and making them at high %. I'm talking multiple guys capable of hitting 6+ 3's in a playoff games. A lot of these games are decided by role players hitting 3's or missing them. Good shooters will hit more in the long run. Some guys can shoot but just aren't capable of lunching a lot (M. Leonard).

3) Overall team size - it's not just the rebounding - it's the ability to play defense without spending a lot of energy due to just being big MFs.

Then and only then you get to what we seem to focus on - good team defense principles. Those are meaningless if you don't address the first 3 points.

Give me big MFs that can shoot 3's and 1 legit natural scorer, That's how you should build for this era.
My approach has always been copy cats are for losers. Don't try to beat someone at their own game. Be something different and be the best at it. Hopefully the best at what you are is better than their best. Matchups makes a difference.

When you are trying to copy cat the best teams that means you got to find a 6'11 skinny 30 pt scorer who can shoot from 40 feet. Good luck on that search.

Find your own formula. You can build a team in a fashion where the league is not set up to defend

That’s why I said if they want to. People tend to overrate market size a lot when it comes to players when really, chit management is the fall of these small markets. They already have a cog is SGA and if some stars want to go play with that dude, their front office has the assets to bring guys in. Precious is raw as hell, he showed flashes but he’s raw. His development is going to take time and a lot of it.

It certainly is throwing a pick away when they can get a guy in the g-league and just develop him for less money than what Precious made. Which goes to my previous point in Moses. And I’ll add to my point, why in the hell would OKC just do us a favor just to gain Precious from it? If they’re unlocking future picks for us, it’s going to take more than Precious alone to do so. OKC isn’t touching that.

There's a big gap between someone like Precious and the chance OKC are going to pick someone up through the G-League that will be productive. Precious he'll develop a lot faster in OKC than he would here. SGA is a good player but no one is lining up to be traded to play with him.

Who has requested a trade to OKC or stayed in OKC once they were traded there since they moved the team to OKC? Better yet at any point when a player of note requested to be traded did they even have a small market team in their list of preferences?

It’s really not, Precious would be a g-leaguer himself if that was available. And they just picked someone up a whole put up 9 & 9 straight out of the g-league. I’m talking about as SGA develops, he’s already really good and people were raving about him in his first season. And as the league shifts into the future young stars of the league, there will be players lining up to play with him.

And to name a few, Kyrie requested a trade to Minnesota and the Bucks were on AD’s list. Has nothing to do with markets. If teams are run the right way and they look like they can contend, players go to those teams. There’s a reason why the Knicks and the Lakers weren’t getting anybody, Bron basically saved that franchise from incompetence and Dolan stepping out of the way has done the Knicks wonders.

Kendrick Perkins, Victor Oladipo, and the biggest one was Paul George.

I'm hoping we don't make a play at Kemba if OKC try and flip him. We don't need another point with knee problems.

One of the biggest positives about Ingram's game is that he doesnt need the ball in his hands that much. Here is the list of perimeter players who have been 20+ ppg scorers and have less than 4 seconds per possession for the last two years.

Ingram (24ppg both seasons)
Middleton (21 and 20 ppg)
Brown (20 and 25 ppg)

So Ingram's combination of scoring volume and lack of time with the ball is pretty damn elite for a perimeter player.

Ingram is a pipe dream and no ways Pels trades him. He is still improving and they will be nuts if they trade him.

They will continue to build around him and Zion for sure.

 some of you have no clue just how far from contention we truly are. I keep seeing all these role players being mentioned as if they would make us title bound. When u realize we need someone like Curry or Lillard to even get us close to sniffing a title, and we have no way of getting guys of that caliber, we just wasting time here, valuable tanking time. You don’t push all in when u have a second rate all star like Jimmy as your main guy, you don’t push all in when your second best player is on a max and doesn’t play anywhere near max level. This team needs a COMPLETE tear down top to bottom. Trade our valuable guys for picks and start the rebuild. Been trying Riley’s way since Lebron left and it hasn’t worked, hasn’t even come close to working (I don’t even count that bubble nonsense season). It’s time to hit up the lottery.

Stop lol. You're overreacting.

We win 1 more game in the regular season and there's a very good chance we make it to the ECF (Knicks first round, Philly second round).

Didn't we get close to sniffing a title 9 months ago? I don't remember us having Curry or Lillard on the roster at that time.. do you?

The fact is, we got worse coming into this season. That's right, a team that just made the NBA finals and took the eventual champs to 6 games actually downgraded their roster. That's unacceptable.

People seriously underrate the capabilities of great role players, along with a well balanced roster.

Unfortunately for him he's got another 4 years on his contract and just about 0 leverage.

Especially for any package we can offer and Bam is no fit next to Zion. The trade rumor is just Ethan hope trafficking and getting hits. It’s literally pick a random good player and start rumor. New Orleans media picked up on it and said it was fan fiction.

I think we definitely do Dragic a solid and opt into his 19.5 player option and ship him to Dallas. Porzingis is almost assured to get dealt considering all the changes with him and not meshing with Luka. The question is are we in the mix to keep Porzingis or rerouting him to the Raptors in a S&T deal for Lowry and Baynes. Guessing Raps have to play ball. Honestly think i’ll be fine with keeping Porzingis and seeing how things work out. Let him be a primary scorer on our squad with Jimmy and allow Bam to play off those two. Of course the key is getting a first round pick from the Mavs. I’d take a 2nd this year and a 2023 first to unlock all our other picks. If things don’t work out with Lowry just match Nunn and sign a vet like McConnell. We will have full MLE and Bi Annual to use.

Return to Miami Heat
