Well, he was coming off his worst season in the past 6 years. And he is a defensive liability in the playoffs.
He was hurt a lot this year though. When he was healthy, he looked pretty much like the old Kemba. I think the Celtics would have been wise to wait and see if he could recoup his lost value early this season before moving him.
At some point, OKC is going to have too many picks/prospects and not enough roster spots. I think that will devalue their picks a little as they become desperate to trade quantity for quality. In the coming years, one could probably do well trading down in the draft with OKC and getting more value than what Kevin Pelton's charts suggest.

For the Celtics it's about adding another max salary cap slot for a true difference maker, Bradley Beal would fit nicely up there.
Kemba is too inconsistent, a poor fit and just not somebody you can rely on to stay healthy.
The Celtics have so many recent picks on their roster, dropping a 16th overall to drop the final year of his contract isn't a terrible choice, and they get to add Moses Brown who's a major project but a decent prospect.
Brad Stevens first move as GM was a great one.
Wizards really have to get it right this offseason or it's bye-bye big Panda.

This is insanity. Like a first and a second to dump kemba for Al. My god this stinks of inexperience and he got worked by OKC. Wow kenba probably had some low level trade value and to attach picks to him for horford who has a few years left on his deal as well is pure insanity. While Moses brown is a solid young big man you have Williams and just traded for horford unless you plan on flipping Al and losing triston this deal is crazy bad for Boston. Be a great idea. Only you don't get the #35 pick in return for moving down 3 spots from 15 to 18.
They owe us a R2 pick in '24. Maybe if we gave them back that one, your trade would work.

They owe us a R2 pick in '24. Maybe if we gave them back that one, your trade would work.
