I wanna say Klay but really can't. Not because he's bad or overpaid, but because he literally never plays. But if he can ever get back on the court, he should still be a beast.

I would have to go for either Gobert or Porzingis. People are overreacting as usual to Gobert, but he's still one of the best defender of this current era of basketball and was a huge part in securing the top spot in the NBA. But that contract is still 5 years and $205 million. That's a hell of a lot of money over a long period of time for a guy that's mostly an elite rim protector and a decent lob option with nothing else to his game.

In Porzingis' case, he's both always injured, and tends to play like a guard even though he's 7'2. Not a great rebounder, doesn't have good post up skills, not a great passer either. Plus he still has 3 years left. But, in the right system, I think some team/coach can get a whole lot out of Porzingis.

So with all that said, I think I'm gonna go with Gobert from the players on this list. Mostly due to the fact that it's so much money over so much time while mainly being only a defensive player.

Easily Klay and it's not even close.

In 2019 Klay Thompson's signed a 5-year contract worth $189.6m after he got ACL-injury.

Here's a breakdown of how much money Klay will receive each season.

- 2019-20 season: $32,742,000
- 2020-21 season: $35,361,360
- 2021-22 season: $37,980,720
- 2022-23 season: $40,600,080
- 2023-24 season: $43,219,440

Klay missed entire last season as he was recovering from ACL-injury. And he missed 2020-21 season after his Achilles got ruptured. Which means GSW have lost $70m in their investment on Klay.

Furthermore, Klay will be almost 32 years old when he makes his comeback. Klay is heavily reliant on athleticism to get into position with cosntant off-ball running and cutting. Klay's defense will also suffer because of it.

If Klay returns as a shadow of himself, then definitely him.

Surprised Simmons isn't on this list. He's getting paid $30 million a year to be a negative asset in the postseason.

Underrated thing about Klay is that if he regresses he's the reason his team is in the luxury tax.

Easily John Wall. Bad play, refuses o alter his game, advanced age and can’t stay healthy. He covers all the bases.

Hard to say that Klay won’t be a problem, but as a deadeye shooter and (last time we saw him) plus defender, he looks potentially a lot more useful than Wall.

With two years left on a contract, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. For me, it's between Porzingis and Thompson. I voted Porzingis because he's a known commodity at this point, but if Thompson can't get back this year or does so and looks terrible, then it's him.

No 2-year contract can be the worst in the league. The worse contracts in the league are usually long-term albatrosses. That just leaves Zingis and Gobert. I chose Zingis in the poll but on second thought.

Gobert is 29. In two years the Jazz will be paying Gobert $44 M/year between the ages of 31-33. That's ungodly horrible.

It's Porzingis. Can't be a 7'3 with perimeter skills and play small. At least the Wizards were able to move Wall's contract. Mavs would have to attach 2 1sts (which they can't for this or next season) to get off of KP's albatross.

You are right, but he wouldn't be in the top 3 and likely out of top 5, so it doesn't hurt the integrity of the poll too much.

I wanna go with Kevin Love just cause of all them that one was the most stupid by far, even at the time it was indefensible. at least Kemba was good up until the ink dried

At this minute it’s Klay and it’s not even up for discussion.

Ask yourself this: have any of the other guys on this list helped their team win 1 game in the past 2 years? How about even 1 quarter? Because Klay hasn’t.

They’ve paid him $68m for nothing. Literally 0. There has never been a worse $/minutes played stretch in NBA history.

This of course could all change going forward but if we pro-rate his deal he’d have to provide $63m in value per season for the Warriors to break even.

Gobert for me because it's 5 damn years and 40+ a year. I think Mitchell will ask to be traded if they can't/ don't unload Gobert within the next 2 years.

They signed him knowing that he'd be out. The same thing happened with Durant in Brooklyn.

If Klay comes back, and is good, then it won't be a bad contract. If not then it will be, but it's too early to say right now.

It's always the bloated long term contracts. Porzingis and Gobert are the easy ones. Paul George and Jrue Holiday have the potential to become contenders. Have been reluctant to include Klay in these discussions, but if he doesn't come back healthy this year, then he has to be included as well. Davis Bertans is the worst of the non stars.
