Embiid throws Ben Simmons under the bus

As bad as Simmons was, Embiid also deserves some blame. He spent most of the game jacking up jump shots instead of dominating the paint.

Do you see how many times Embiid goes to the post but only to be doubled by Ben's man? He isn't even able to get the ball downlow most of the time because of this and then he's forced to start his possessions from the 3 point line.

Embiid has to get better against double teams. No team can provide 4 shooters on the court all the time with their stars. The closest to it was the Warriors and even they could not do it.

Right or wrong guys should not be throwing teammates under the bus to the media. To me a leader takes all the blame when things go bad and none of the credit when things go well, but people seem to like guys doing this to their teammates these days.

Yeah. Did anyone else notice that Simmons almost never touches the ball in the 4th quarter? Like the Sixers dont pass it to him at all.

This is their all-star point guard. And he actually doesn't touch the ball unless he's stealing it on defense, because giving it to him would be completely pointless.

He is a role player. It doesnt matter what he does in the regular season. In any kind of intensely competitive basketball situation, ie. the second round and further, he is a defensive role player. Facts.

Why is that critical moment, they were down by only one points , Embiid was missing some crucial shots. I think those were more critical than Simmons passing that open dunk. Embiid is as much to blame for losing the game. He choked too.

Don’t forget that late turnover that made it a 6 point game. Joel seems to have forgotten it. I’m guessing because he turns it over so often he probably just lost track.

I mean, they're giving a 7ft C the ball at the top of the 3 point line and asking him to create. And they can't even pass it to Simmons at the end of the game because of his FT shooting so now you have a 7ft C trying to create at the top of the 3 point line playing 5v4. Embiid isn't perfect, but he's also not being put in a great situation out there.

It's not even about having 4 shooters. At least draymond shot the damn ball during their championship years. Simmons refuses to shoot so players don't even look his way when he's on the perimeter. He just clogs the paint acting like a scrub offensive player when he doesn't have the ball.

A lot of blame also has to go on Doc. I mean what do you want from a guy when your entire offense is built on going ISO Embiid or Harris for a full game. That's the entire Sixers offense along with some curl screens for Curry. I coach u/16's and my playbook is more in depth, it's embarrassing. It's amazing that Simmons can get 13 assists with an offense that plays that way.

At the end of the day, the Embiid/Simmons pairing just doesn't work. Simmons is sacrificing his game for Embiid (as he should) but at the same time,will take all the heat for it.

Simmons needs to play in a fast pace styled offense like the Wizards have. Imagine having Westbrook play in a slow half court offense? It just wouldn't work. Simmons with a 5 out style offense that just runs all game will see him getting closer to that 20ppg mark.

Embiid needs to play with a PG who can control the game in the half court and can run the pick and roll play after play.

I'm not a fan. Everyone who follows ball know it's an issue. Own up to your faults too. And honestly I have sympathy for Ben. This dude has some serious demons and I hate to see it.

Maybe if Embiid would actually improve his body he wouldn't be a glass man.

I think this has something to do with Doc, as he said in other post games' interview that he'd have to manage Ben's game because his poor free throws... like Kenny said in the inside of NBA segment my coach can't give you confidence but can easily take my confidence away...

Fully agree with the sentiment but Embiid also had 8 turnovers. If you have 8 turnovers as a CENTER then you gotta take some ownership too

Embiid has to start his play too many times from the perimeter because our wings cannot get by a man without an screen and cannot finisht at the rim.

The other problem is most of his isolation plays begin with him with his back to the basket for the same problem. He has to post up too much because he's basically a one man offense out there.

When Ben initates his man can sag of him and Joel has to come out of the paint.

It's too much for him to back up his man all the way to the paint or take constant fadeways, his USG is too big. And that's partially because he has to pick up a big chunk of the offense to make up for Ben
