But with that said, ya that no doubt was the turning point, so Embiid is just speaking the truth. Plus it has to be extremely frustrating playing in that offense when you have to play 4 on 5 every possession. Hell you could tell Doc was trying his best not to throw Simmons under the bus as well.

Simmons is officially done in Philly.

4 on 5? Did Thybulle make some shots I missed?

Crazy how many overrated prospects the Sixers have...Simmons, Maxey, and Thybulle (and Milton last year) are insanely overrated.

This.

Embiid got 8 turnovers because Simmons isn't doing his damn job and embiid has to literally do everything on offense in the clutch. He should be in the paint and Simmons should be making the plays in the clutch. But he can't and won't shoot, so they're compromised.

I also think the Embiid TOs can be cut massively if he's playing with a real PG who isn't afraid to attack and has to be guarded by at least 1 player

Basically Ben dribbles it up until the logo and than asks Embiid to do the rest.

Embiid should blame himself just as much. His only healthy postseason was the 4 games he played against the Celtics last year. In every other postseason he has played injured. And frankly, losing to a team like the Hawks, or even going to game 7, makes him look bad as the leader of the team.

Embiid is done with Simmons.

Should have traded him earlier this season when his value was high. Could have gotten McCollum and Covington.

Now nobody will want him.

Injured Embiid put up nearly 30 every night. How can you blame him?

His second best player this series was Seth Curry.

Tobias Harris choked. Ben Simmons was unplayable.

They surrounded him with nothing. Should have just kept Jimmy Butler. They don't lose this series with him.

Sixers must hope some elite PG is available next season who is willing to shoot.

Embiid still got 31 and 11 on a bad knee, Simmons did literally nothing to help the team, zero, nada, niet. Not even played defense.

Basically, Simmons not taking the layup was the “turning point” of the game.

Simmons took 0 shots in the 4th quarter in games 4, 5, 6, 7

Four games to end the series - 48 minutes - ZERO SHOTS TAKEN

Embiid could have 18 TO - Simmons lost them this game and this series which should have ended 4-1, worst case 4-2

Also Thybulles foul was just as bad, if not worse

Thybulle isn’t making 169 million over 5 years

That’s besides the point though

He was recognized by the league as an All-Defensive team player even though he’s just a bench player. A player with that magnitude of defensive reputation shouldn’t be making a dumb foul as costly as that

Sure, he’s not making insane money (yet) but that doesn’t mean he can’t take some heat for that mistake

First they need to fire dic rivers and hire a competent coach who would kick their asses in practice. Not this good guy for the players. How many playes has dic rivers ramped up in his coaching career? No one besides the no jumpshot Rondo.

People don't even understand that Embiid would be even better than he's been if he had a PG who could space the floor, drive and kick. They would have to make up the drop in defense but that can probably be done as a unit.

Ben will need at least a couple of years to fix his shooting (and that's if he wants to), he should go to a team that has a few years to spare. Trade him for best guard available. He's a really good player, should get good value.

It's not the right team for him, it's too bad they waited till his stock is at an all time low. Morey should be furious with the coach and Embiid for not defending Simmons more aggressively. That probably took a hammer to his trade value.

Embiid may have been out of line, but with Simmons there's this ostrich syndrome in his camp and as teammates and as an organization it's enough already with the coddling.

He's not on a rookie deal anymore, he's being counted on to hold up his end of the bargain and he simply hasn't delivered.

As a Phily fan what would make this even worse for me is that Simmons flat out didn't even try.

Sure, he wants to win, but more than anything he plays like a guy that's scared to fail and that's just a loser mentality.

You can't shy away from these moments. You can't just pretend you're doing everything in your power when it's obvious you're holding back.

We are talking about a 7 game series here, not a bad game. It's a full series with championship aspirations on the line of not competing 100% basically because of your fear of failure.

To me nothing is worse than a lack of trying.

You **** up, you fail, whatever, you pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get to work, but this I suck at this so I am just not going to do it **** is for the birds.

Give me a Westbrook over Simmons attitude all day long.

I'd rather see a guy go down in flames going 4 for 25 than a player flat out refusing to try.

It's the cowards way out.

3 FGAs in 7 4th quarters.

There's really nothing else to say, can't win a championship with that kind of attitude.

Big time miss for Morey to not trade Simmons and Thybulle for Harden. Harden and Embiid are a legit championship 1-2 punch with good supporting cast.
Good assessment:

"We didn't get a good possession on the other end and Trae came back and he made a 3 and then from there down four, it's on me. I turned the ball over and tried to make something happen from the perimeter. But I thought that was the turning point."

Doc should not have allowed Ben in the game during the entire final quarter. He should have told him after game 4 that if he doesn't want to attack the basket and score he sits next to him on the bench.
Overall though, Ben, Joel, Tobias, and Doc are all to blame and none more than the next.
Doc should have extended his depth chart, which puts Ben on the bench for larger stretches. For the most dominant post player in the game, Joel rarely went there in the last few games.
Tobias had his moments but he just doesn't play winning basketball and looked more like he wanted to get his rather than help the team win.
At the end of the day it epitomizes the 76ers, they play like individuals that are more worried about how they will look in the washup than playing winning basketball.

Not sure if all this heat on Ben is a help or hindrance of playing in the Olympics. Both Ben & Thybulle have copped it and might be part of the Australian team.
What do you want to do Ben? Play for Australia or put up Insta videos AGAIN of you hitting 3s in an empty gym.
