Should have traded him earlier this season when his value was high. Could have gotten McCollum and Covington.

Now nobody will want him.

Big time miss for Morey to not trade Simmons and Thybulle for Harden. Harden and Embiid are a legit championship 1-2 punch with good supporting cast.

I don't think Rockets wanted to do it from what I've read about the situation.

No way does Morey say no to that.

Houston didn't want to make him their franchise player. And I get why.

Thybulle's foul on a Huerter 3 and Embiid getting stripped by Gallinari were both bigger plays.
The foul cost them 3, and the Embiid turnover cost them 2 and might have been a 4 point swing. The Simmons play occurred with more time left on the clock and only cost them 1 point.
What this tells me is just that Embiid is getting tired of playing w Ben and wants another scorer to take the pressure off him.
Not sure that's the best thing tbh as Tobias is a reliable second option and they'd miss Ben's defense for sure, but stars usually get what they want.

When Simmons was injured last year for the playoffs that was Embiids excuse for getting swept by Boston in the first round. Its good for Embiid that he can use Simmons as an excuse regardless of what happens

But with that said, ya that no doubt was the turning point, so Embiid is just speaking the truth. Plus it has to be extremely frustrating playing in that offense when you have to play 4 on 5 every possession. Hell you could tell Doc was trying his best not to throw Simmons under the bus as well.

Simmons is officially done in Philly.

Noted on the turnovers, they are not good but when your Center has to create all the offense in the clutch I can't really crush him for that. Isn't this what your sidekick "Superstar" point guard team mate is supposed to help with? Simmons took the air out the team with his scared play.

Don’t forget that late turnover that made it a 6 point game. Joel seems to have forgotten it. I’m guessing because he turns it over so often he probably just lost track.

tbf Embiid shouldn't be getting the ball at the 3 point line and being asked to create. this is the flaw of their roster construction.

And frankly, losing to a team like the Hawks, or even going to game 7, makes him look bad as the leader of the team.

He played at the same level of the postseason when he wasn't injured. Can't see what you are complaining about. And you cannot help a tear. He played through it and he was good.

But I do agree Embiid isn't the leader he thinks he is and the Sixers really need someone besides him that could take that role (imagine CP3 or maybe a Lowry type of leader)

Ben was 4/14 from the line in game 5. We shouldn't have needed those Embiid ft's in the first place

Let's see what Embiid can do with a pg that isn't afraid to play the game of basketball.

Wiggins has only two years left at $65 million putting up 19 points on 38% 3 point shooting.

Simmons has 4 years left at $146 million putting up 14 points and will not shoot the ball.

so yes, Wiggins contract is looking better and will become an expiring after next season.

I know it is bury Ben Simmons day but as a Hawks fan I have to say I thought his defense against Trae last night was some of the best I have seen all season.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Embiid also struggled BIG time but I feel for him here. He's done everything possible to expand his game so he could fit next to Ben. The best low post player in the league spends a lot of time as a floor spacer because of Ben.

Ben hasn't improved offensively in any area and I think he's regressed quite a bit. The Hawks had GALLO on him and he was useless. That must be frustrating when this guy is a core part of your team.

AussieCeltic wrote:A lot of blame also has to go on Doc. I mean what do you want from a guy when your entire offense is built on going ISO Embiid or Harris for a full game. That's the entire Sixers offense along with some curl screens for Curry. I coach u/16's and my playbook is more in depth, it's embarrassing. It's amazing that Simmons can get 13 assists with an offense that plays that way.

At the end of the day, the Embiid/Simmons pairing just doesn't work. Simmons is sacrificing his game for Embiid (as he should) but at the same time, will take all the heat for it.

Simmons needs to play in a fast pace styled offense like the Wizards have. Imagine having Westbrook play in a slow half court offense? It just wouldn't work. Simmons with a 5 out style offense that just runs all game will see him getting closer to that 20ppg mark.

Embiid needs to play with a PG who can control the game in the half court and can run the pick and roll play after play.

So, someone like Kyle Lowry? Someone who maked Khem Birch look much more valuable than he looked in Orlando?

I don't think Dame wants out just yet, think he wants ownership to start making tough decisions to appease him.

However, if you followed Woj around the time when Aldridge left Portland, you'd know Woj 100% puts in media bites for Olshey. Dude is a mouthpiece for pro PDX messaging when they're desperate.

If portland cant do anything this offseason, I think they take that if it were 3 picks instead of 1, whether dame asked for it or not, if they are smart that is. Why wait until he inevitably asks for a trade when you can get more value now? Hes not playing out that deal if they dont get him a contender.

Wasn't he playing on a partially torn meniscus? Maybe asking your center, playing on a torn meniscus, to initiate the plays because you don't trust your point guard, is the problem, not the turnovers that result from such a situation.
