I understand the concern about McCollum not being a top 15 player. He's not a true 2nd banana. But do we win this series with him and Cov instead of Ben and Hill? Absolutely. Do we potentially take down Milwaukee too? I think it'd give us a better shot than what we have now.

Unless Dame or Beal are there for the taking (which I don't expect, as they're both loyal AF), I think this is the best move out there.

wow this is a lopsided Philly trade. you're essentially saying that Simmons is worth 3 assets plus CJ? no way

I think the age/contract situation of both players make it so. You could argue one less pick, but I think that’s what it would take.

Despite his flaws, I think Simmons will still have considerably more value league-wide than CJ.

Pretty sure if Morey tries to hardball teams with Simmons, the 76ers are going to be stuck with him and it's going to get ugly between him and Embiid. Other GM's are not ignorant of this fact.

I agree on both fronts, but I disagree that the above proposal is anything close to a hardball offer. McCollum has neutral value with his age and contract, and Portland feels the need to move him just as much as we do Simmons. The difference is Simmons is 24 and will still have perceived upside (whether true or not), while CJ is 29 and is what he is. There will have to be compensation for the youth and upside factor in the form of additional assets.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

I'd probably do that w/o the picks being involved. Just can't play offense 4 on 5 any more.

Dame or Beal would be difficult at Ben's current reputation level. Time needs to pass and things cool off so that people "forget" about his performance last night to even have a chance at this. Wouldn't be offseason; it would be by next All Star break and you better hope that the Wizards and Blazers are having extra crappy seasons up to that point so they're more willing to consider.

More realistic: Lavine or CJ.

Another: DeAaron Fox (some grumblings there from him and a poor front office) or one of Sexton/Garland from the Cavs.
Truth is on the side of the oppressed.

Sexton or Fox is your absolute best case scenario IMO. And in the case of the latter, it probably requires a formal trade request

We cannot trade Simmons. Value is too low. Better to get assets for Embiid and build around Simmons. If that doesn’t light a fire in Simmons. Nothing will because all the pressure will be on him to run the team.

Yeah, it's tough. We absolutely have to trade Simmons but also we absolutely cannot trade Simmons. People are talking about CJ as the best case (hell, we might even have to add picks there), but I don't think swapping those two players even gets us to the conference finals.

UnbelievablyRAW wrote:Hey just a Raps fan checking the temperature on Simmons. Just wanted to say you are misjudging his stock if you think a Ben for Lavine trade even straight up would be appealing for the Bulls. Unfortunately with this epic choke job you’re better off keeping him and hoping he regains some worth come next trade deadline because teams are probably only gonna be looking to get him for pennies for the dollar

That's an interesting way of doing a "temperature check."

I understand everyone is heated. So am I.

That said... no, we don't HAVE TO trade Ben Simmons. At least not right now.

The best course likely will be to let him rehab value w/meaningless regular season games first, then deal him.

Might as well just relocate the team to Seattle if they trade Emdiid to build around Simmons. In that scenario would be the death of the 76ers. I do think they should wait a bit to trade him, ideally around the trade deadline next season. But again if they do that, the interest in the team will dwindle until he is gone.

If you say so. I read a lot of your board this season and a lot of your fanbase wanted to get out on Lavine while his value is high. This is a team that went all in and still missed the playoffs. Not sure they're negotiating from a position of strength.

And what if he is worse in the regular season. Everyone thought it could not get any worse these playoffs. The dude is a mental midget and being in front of the Philly crowd that is already mad at him will lead to massive boos every time he has a bad game. If you wait to move him to after the season starts his value will continue to depreciate. Best option is for both sides to part ways now.

He's always worse in the playoffs. That's where his flaws get magnified and totally exposed.

I'm not against a deal now if a good one is available. But that's highly unlikely at this point.

Would you trade him for Kemba Walker?

No. Kemba is done. He’s good for 20 min off the bench. Kemba getting paid 35-40 million.

Better to try dump Simmons off for assets. And go for normal powell in free agency.

I don't think Ben can play another game for the team after that performance.

i get not wanting to trade him just because...but I think that ship has sailed.

they were stomping and burning his jersey last night yall.
