Lets be honest for just a minute. Simmons doesn't take his shooting seriously at all. Whether its 3 pt, mid range, or FT, he doesn't work at it. Its obvious to everyone expect people living in denial. This guy gets paid a lot of money to do a job. He relies 100% on his natural defensive talent to get by. The fact he crumbles under pressure like we all just witnessed means he's mentally weak. Passing up shots to not go to the FT line is just sickening. But whats even worse, it seems he doesn't even try to get better. Its been 5 years since he's been drafted. Only a major change will alter this trajectory.

Not trolling. Being honest. For all of Ben's bad stuff (offense) his defense on Trae last night was excellent. I think he was in Traes head. He was pushing Trae past the 3 point line. He was using his long arms if Trae got past him. He used other players and the out of bounds line to trap Trae multiple times. Does that mean Ben was good offensively? No but defensively I think Trae will be happy to not have to go against a guy with that size and wingspan again.

Simmons' lack of range is a good excuse for Embiid to some extent. The truth is that Embiid doesn't have the conditioning or stamina to bang in the low post all game. He'll be shooting fadeaway midrange jumpers and camping at the 3pt line no matter who is PG. He might not do it as often, but he'll still do it quite a bit.

Worrying about Embiid's 8 turnovers in a series where's he putting up 31 and 12 on a bum knee is like worrying about the suspension on your car while your other car is on fire. Yes, it's still an issue that should be fixed but the other car is unsalvageable. We all know Embiid is far from a perfect and still needs to work on his conditioning and stamina as he tends to fade out during the playoffs. But Simmons is an AllStar PG on a 177 mil contract who's literally afraid to shoot the ball and can't be trusted to be in the game during the 4th quarter. To me these problems aren't remotely in the same level. You can live with Embiid's flaws and find ways to work around them. I honestly have no idea what you do with Simmons if he continues to be the player he's been his entire career.

Morey hates making trades from a position or weakness, and if he moves Simmons this off season, that’s exactly what he’ll be doing.

Something involving CJ McCallom might be the best direction for both teams. The Blazers have the leagues 29th ranked defense and Sixers need a guard with creation skills. Of course Morey likely thought he could get Lillard instead of CJ a few months ago.

I don't think you can put too much blame on Embiid for the 8 turnovers. The reason he had 8 turnovers is because he was handling the ball more than he should have been because you didn't want the ball in their max contract point guard's hands with the way he was playing

Honestly we will see what philly chooses soon enough. I don’t think doc and Simmons are going to be working together next season. So do they get rid of doc or Simmons. Should be an interesting off season. With all the coaching changes and trades to come.

Tough talk from a guy with 8 turnovers

2 gams in a row. Game 5 he was horrible, and he also missed 2 ft’s the sealed the win for the Hawks in game 5

Ben was 4/14 from the line in game 5. We shouldn't have needed those Embiid ft's in the first place

Let's see what Embiid can do with a pg that isn't afraid to play the game of basketball.

I can’t defend Simmons, but I don’t think Embiid is a number 1 on a championship team. He’s always hurt and in this series against the Hawks he gave up a million points in the paint and turned the ball over nonstop

Ben Simmons needs to grow a pair and work day and night on addressing his offensive deficiencies. It’s inexcusable that a professional basketball player has done nothing to improve his shot after five years as an NBA player. Daryl Morey should be kicking himself every day if he had the chance to ship Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle and picks to the Rockets for Harden and P.J. Tucker and refused to pull the trigger, but the reality is Fertitta never wanted to send Harden to Philadelphia after the way Morey snaked his way there. Finally, Simmons is still a very useful player if you build a five-out offense around him or play him in the dunker spot on offense. Rebuilding teams that can build a system around him, or contending teams that have a bunch of shooting and could afford to play him in the dunker spot on offense should be interested in trading for him.

Would love to know why people hate Embiid so much.

Kid that learned how to play basketball as a teenager went through two years of awful injuries, is a legit MVP candidate and people here act like he's Ron Artest.
