Kid that learned how to play basketball as a teenager went through two years of awful injuries, is a legit MVP candidate and people here act like he's Ron Artest.

Doesn't really matter, just weird.

He has turned in to an absolutely great player. Arguably the best center in the league. He is the guy I would want at center over Jokic and Gobert. His touch is phenomenal for a big man. With that said I thought he and Dwight Howard played dirty multiple times so while I respect his skill I did not like seeing that.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Don't hate Embiid. He showed emotion when Kawhi beat him. That shows he cares. Not sure Simmons cares. We had a gifted player in Bargnani once. The man didn't give a crap about developing his game. A seven foot center who wouldn't rebound. If it wasn't for the stupidity of the New York Knicks, Raptors would have been lucky to get scraps for him.

Looks like Magic Johnson the bus driver after his take this morning on BSPN. I think Doc Rivers slipped Magic some bills to defend him on national TV lol.

From a personal standpoint, and this is all eye of the beholder, but based on what we're exposed to via social media and his behavior, I find him to be exceptionally obnoxious, almost elementary school juvenile. Maybe I'm just getting older, but there's just nothing amusing about any of it. And you can see from his periodic emotional outbursts that he's got very little impulse control, which goes hand in hand. Unfortunately for him, that just makes him a bigger target when he fails, especially when he plays poorly in the process. (No pun intended.)

All of that said, from a purely basketball standpoint, he's a remarkable player, no question. His feet and shooting touch are amazing for such a big, burly dude. When he's on his game he is a sight to behold, and certainly one of the toughest covers in the NBA. Only problem is, it doesn't seem like his body's going to cooperate with him, which is a shame for a player of his caliber. You'd like to see guys like that get at least 10 good years under his belt but I'm not sure it's in the cards.

It tells you a lot about how untenable the current 76ers situation is that he'd throw Simmons on the bus. Simmons held Young to 5/23. Had 13 assists and 2 turnovers. All that gets lost. Are we going to talk about Embiid's 8 turnovers or his last turnover? Are we going to talk about Thybulle's foul on a 3? Nope. All we will talk about is Simmons' passing up an open layup. It shows you not just how bad things have gotten for Simmons' in Philadelphia, but also how toxic the entire culture is. They nearly destroyed Markelle Fultz, now they nearly destroyed Simmons'. Why didn't the 76ers trade Simmons sooner? Why did they let it get this bad? When the history comes out about the 76ers I guarantee you are going to read about a divided organization.

Personally, if I'm another team I am not trading anything for value for Simmons. Entering his 2nd year of a max deal with a completely broken jumper that he has no confidence coming off the worst ft shooting percentage in the history of the playoffs you really have no clue what you'll be getting in Simmons. People throw around CJ McCollum but is that really realistic? If it doesn't work, Lillard's window is done. Basically, you are asking a team to mortgage their entire future on a player who has been basically run out of town from his first team. If you're not 100% sure Ben Simmons is guy you need him to be, how do you make this trade? If he can't bounce back from this he will have the worst contract in the NBA.

Simmons will be traded for .50 cents on the dollar now.

Joel Embiid's tweet did not ruin Ben Simmon's trade value.

Ben Simmon's crappy play ruined his trade value.

Don’t forget that late turnover that made it a 6 point game. Joel seems to have forgotten it. I’m guessing because he turns it over so often he probably just lost track.

Embiid does take responsibility in the end. But just a partial quote looks a lot more damning on Ben.
Thanks for sharing. The initial quote in the OP does make it seem like Embiid wasn't taking any responsibility himself. The full quote is more reasonable.

As someone said before, when you ask your C to be your main ball handler and shot creator in the half court - many times from the perimeter - no wonder Embiid had 8 TOs. He did still put up 20/10 with good %s

You don't pay $30-40MM annually for someone to hide on offense like Simmons does - you need to be a 2-way scorer to earn that kind of cap hit. (Remains to be seen if someone like Gobert will get $30MM+, I'm sure if not the Jazz someone will pony up unfortunately.)

The 6er supporting cast is obviously an issue - Harris isn't exactly a leading scoring option, and Seth is a role player.

https://thesixersense.com/2016/05/25/does-ben-simmons-have-work-ethic-concerns/

“The concerns about Simmons’ character didn’t magically appear the moment he arrived on campus in Baton Rouge. Those sentiments also have been expressed by members of the Australian national team who have spent time with him at the junior and senior levels. Australian players and coaches who have been around him don’t speak about him in flattering terms, calling him “the Yank” to highlight how different he is compared with most of the players from that country, and perhaps highlight how much moving to the United States at a young age and immersing himself in the AAU world has shaped him. Those who know him best say he needs things to revolve around him on and off the court and that he’s often been close-minded to coaching or instruction” -as seen Why Ben Simmons isn’t the Top Prospect In the NBA Draft by Jonathon Givony of The Vertical

It seems people have been giving him a pass all these years but the day of reckoning from Philly fans might come after his horrible offensive performance this year.

Don't hate him. Just don't like his online bully persona.

Respect his play this playoffs though. Playing through that knee injury.

There's definitely something off-putting about Embiid's personality that makes people not like him. Reminds me a bit of prime Dwight Howard, where he always tried to say the right thing, but people knew he wasn't authentic.

I finally watched this quote, the partial quote was pretty misleading. Embiid pretty much was describing a series of events starting with Ben and ending with him. The media is kinda ridiculous.

I don't think it was OP's fault he just posted what he saw. The media is just throwing gasoline on the fire.
