Lonzo doesnt do anything we actually need.
1/ pnr
2/ dribble drive
3/secondary transition
4/ create his own three
hes a backup 3-D guy whose probably a SG on a winning team.

if anything they should be weighed less since he wouldnt be playing themjvsimonetti0514 wrote:HarthorneWingo wrote:jvsimonetti0514 wrote:
Huerter is averaging 11.6 ppg in the playoffs on slightly better percentages during the regular season. This is who this kid is and that's a solid role player, I don't think we should overreact for a couple good games in the playoffs. If you look at his career numbers they're pretty much the same from Huerter first year with slight improvements in efficiency. Lonzo has made dramatic improvements with his efficiency and scoring. I mean that's how we ended up signing Jerome James to some crazy contract cuz of an overreaction to some playoff games. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't hate bringing in Huerter if the price was right but Idk if I see as much upside there as I do in Lonzo.
Frank can't fill that role cuz Frank isn't an NBA player and playing him more would not make us a better offensive team. Marci had a bunch of advanced stats showing the Lonzo made his team better. Frank's not even an upgrade for Bullock. If he was, Thibs would have played him in the rotation instead of being situational. We need to try to upgrade our startling line up, not make it worse.
Lonzo vs. Knicks
'20-'21:
- 27+ minutes, TS% .278 (lowest of all starters), 2-9 FGs (22%), 1-5 3P FGs (20%), 3 assists.
yes and? Why should those three games be weighed over the other 68?

He couldn't even beat out Bledsoe for the starting PG position on a team that didn't make the playoffs. Maybe we should sign Bledsoe instead?

not really tbh.
from a team defense perspective I dont think its so important in Thibs defensive style because hes not a switcher on the PNR.

Re: Who will the Knicks Target? Here's a List of REALISTIC Players
I still think Leon and Wes have some sh*t up their sleeves with a major godfather trade and somebody like Lonzo would be a consolation prize or secondary small potatoes.
Lonzo would fit the Steve Mills mold of paying a 25 year old “up and comer” because you couldn’t land anyone more established. Could happen, but IMO Leon and Wes have bigger aspirations and won’t hesitate to empty the chamber on draft night (or whenever the moratorium ends) to acquire a marquee #1 to pair with Randle.

he's 23 and Randle was acquired as an up and comer on a bargain and it worked out pretty good

Yeah, but you're going to pay Lonzo almost what we'll be paying Randle next season ... the MIP in the league and 2nd Team All-NBA player on our team. That's crazy.

How old was THJR when he got the Steve Mills Special?
Just saying, I think Wes/Leon are gunning for something bigger than Lonzo. Maybe they end up settling like Mills did (twice), but I still expect a McDyess or Marbury type trade this off-season with some combination of RJ, Mitch, and/or IQ gone.

That's just a testament to how good a deal Randle's contract is. This is demonstrating the upside in signing someone with potential at a similar price
even THJ played admirably his last two years in Dallas and probably earned his salary and if it was an overpay it wasn't by very much
I feel like best case scenario it's a Randle situation where he breaks out and we have at least a borderline all-star PG and worst case scenario he is who he is, and we think "ah we probably should have paid him about 25% less' but he's still a solid PG anyway.
also he will help us recruit zion and lamelo

Agree 100%
Jussayin I think Leon/Wes have the balls, ambition, and connections to pull off a bigger move than Steve Mills ever could. Judging from the unexpected underdog runs this offseason, the timing might be right to pull a big trade.

we are on a hot streak! But yeah the team might not share my opinion about him. in fact I know they don't because if it was up to me I'd have already traded for him at the last deadline. Actually if it was up to me we'd have LaMelo already. But they've been making good moves lately so let's hope whatever they do it works out
there are some people who really really didn't want the knicks to get lamelo (the 2021 rookie of the year for those unaware) and posted page after page after page slandering his game last year and many of these same people are lobbying against lonzo. they don't like their family and their dad and are letting it get in the way of their analysis!

Nah, nah, I wanted Frank AND IQ. Thibs was too tight with his rotations. There was plenty of time for these guys plus Knox.

So I'm thinking about Buffalo NY as a possible destination. Did you know that it's the only city on the eastern seaboard that has a full oceanic view of the western sunset. The city is completely surrounded by water YET is one of the safest cities in a drastic climate change era. Average home prices are very affordable as well. Great architecture and lots of parks.

"We're on a hot streak"? Did you see what the Hawks did to us and Randle? We need to adjust our roster accordingly. First, bring back DRose to be first player off the bench and the PG to finish the games. Our record was great after we brought him to do just that. We need (1) a potent play-making/scoring wing and (2) a starting PG to compliment Rose. Lonzo isn't either of those players.

I actually agree but it’s contingent on a real A list star demanding out, none really in free agency any time soon, it’s possible we might still be another year away
