The case to trade whatever it takes to get Jalen Green

Post#1 » by Skin » Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:36 am

I've been on the Jalen Green train from day 1 of researching this year's crop and nothing has changed for me since. He's a bonafide #1 go to scoring option, with uber athleticism, ability to create his own shot, an excellent shooter and on top of that, he got big time star factor. ...and while I do think highly of Cade Cunningham and Jalen Suggs as well, I believe they are closer to their ceiling than Jalen Green. At 19, Green's body is still not yet filled out as much as Cade and Suggs. Once he's in his mid 20's, he will be a star in this league that will be on multiple Team USA Olympic teams and NBA All-Star teams. He has what it takes to be the face of the Magic franchise and I wanted to put this out before the lottery results were revealed tomorrow. That is all for now. More to come. So scared of OKC stealing him from us.

Watch this series. You get a good idea of him and his make up. Fun watch, too.

Question.. is he really 6'6? Before the GL started differemt sites had him as 6'4 barefoot to 6'6 with shoes.

Also while I do like him, I put more importamce on the ballhandling and playmaking to add to shooting as we saw right now with how Trae , Luka, CP3, Kawhi, is/were carrying their team.

I like Green over Cunningham. If the Magic win the draft, I hope the Magic draft Cunningham and then trade down for Green and future assets. I do not need "a case to be made".

For me, Cunningham is the safest No. 1 Pick since Anthony Davis. I really love this guy and would be thrilled to get the #1 pick.
But, as a magic fan, i can´t believe we will have the luck. So i will be more than satisfied with a Top 3 Pick as i believe Cumminghan, Green & Mobley all will be true franchise players. After that, i´m not sure about Suggs or Kuminga (especially the fit with us). Bulls Pick i don´t care which # as long as it stays our.
So, give me Top3 Pick + Bulls Pick an i´m thrilled about next season. Give me Cunningham, and i´m thrilled about next decade :)

I was wondering who Skin would curse this draft with his annual thread.

He does sort of remind me of an Iverson level player.

My guy...you've been pretty spot on in recent drafts with these posts. Reading you say this about Green over Cade really makes me pause and re-think things. I like Green, but really...over Cade? Interesting.

I'm happy with both but now won't be as mad if we don't get Cade. I just wish Green was a more willing/better passer.

I want Cade or Green. I’m good with any of those guys as our pick.

How’s Greens ability to make plays for others?

Jalen Green has been the guy I really really want for a while now.

I know, I know, I’m supposed to want Cade as the safest pick and a part of me still does. However, the dangerous side of me which misses the T-Mac days really wants Jalen Green …

There's plenty of perennial All-Stars in the league. There's only a few MVPs. I see Cade Cunningham being very likely the former and Jalen Green as potentially the ladder.

There's just too much college MJ and high school Kobe in his movement to ignore.

Jalen Green has a lot of talent but i am sceptical. There are hardly any successful comparisons in the current nba. Yes he can be a 3 point shot creator, but without advanced feel for the game and passing thats a starter on lottery team or 6th man on contender. He propably is better defender than someone like Lavine so the upside is higher, still i doubt ceiling is as high as some would think given his athletic tools. During interviews he doesnt strike me as some high level thinker. His shooting could also be fluky despite high ft%, thats the first time he shot above average. If he isnt elite shooter his outcome becomes even more murkier.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I really like Green but doesnt see the playmaking, ballhandling & obviously length T-Mac had yet, to draft him over Cade.

I’m not directly comparing him to T-Mac’s body type. Come on …

I’m saying I miss the days when we had an all around go-to scorer LIKE T-Mac. Booker is killing it for the Suns deep in the playoffs. I haven’t always been the biggest Booker supporter but they have surrounded him with a great supporting cast and it’s working … something we never did for T-Mac.

I would be very happy with Green. one disagreement, you talk about Green only being 19 and body not filled out. Cade is also 19 and Suggs just turned 20 two weeks ago. its not like he is years younger than the other 2. so their bodies could fill out more too.

I can understand that feeling.

But Booker is a playmaker. He played even the point in the past in Phoenix over parts of the season.
I just prefer a tall, playmaking scorer with good defense over the maybe better scorer without the rest. In case we draft Green i'm super excited too & hope he improves in the other things. I just would feel a little bit more condident in Cade's archetype to become a winning player.

I’m expecting hs to land the 6th pick. So…. scottie Barnes it is. Haha

I really like Jalen. Either him or Cade would be good for us.

I am totally behind this thought and would be perfectly fine if this were the outcome.

Those are the two guys that I want, so if we end up with the scoring potential that Green possesses and add more assets on top of it, that is the best possible outcome in my mind.

You normally win me over with these threads, but I'm not sold this time. I'd obviously be happy with him, as it would mean a top 3 pick, but I'd much rather have Cunningham if we have the choice.

My #2 choice....no case needs to be made....to me he's good enough that if he was drafted last year he'd be the 1st overall pick...Cade is my preferred #1 pick is because he's a bit more of a safer bet
