Re: The Around The NBA Thread
As tempting as it is to compare to Suns and Hawks, Bulls simply weren’t remotely there (for a cp3 type move).
Their late picks and secondary FAs have made better impacts than our 7s and primary FAs. I personally think it was wise to change course with Vuc, cause the farm was sunk (and stunk). Zach and Pat were the only keepers. Unless you want to wait 3y for another uncertain/luck-involved lotto build. Now we’re in position to add a guy. Two picks were spent, but there are tradeable pieces. Not like PHX gave up a lot for Paul. Some such opportunity will come up.
CP3 worked out. But he’d have gotten very frustrated with the state of this team. With Carter, Lauri nearing extension talks, the other big negative with a winning floor-general was inflating their value beyond their actual worth, just in time for his retirement.

Last year, a veteran poster (I think it was Mark K.) took a lot of abuse for suggesting that the Bulls sing CP3. We were too far away, people argued. Maybe so. But Phoenix was a 34-39 team that had not been in the playoffs, with a time horizon that seemingly was too far away to justify signing an oft-injured 35 year old (now 36 years old). And hmmm, that seemed to work out alright.
Just saying.
Maybe Lowry or Conley Jr. can be the CP3 for the Bulls next year.
they help but neither can do what CP3 does. Conley hasn't been healthy enough and he really doesn't have the CP3 impact. Lowry is closer to it for sure but still not a magic pill like Paul has been. I could see Conley coming here but I don't see Lowry wanting the Bulls. He could just retire a Raptor because neither team is going to contend.

Its still pretty amazing that 2 years ago about 99% of us here thought that Cam Payne would never sniff an NBA roster after us.
Now dude is making an impact in the WCF.
Crazy world.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
I still feel like I'm watching a pre-season game with some stars missing, B squads and rookies getting burn.
Let me be honest; this is the silliest NBA WCF in my life-time. Of course the fellas are playing hard, and good for Cam Payne, but this year's top-8 teams got hosed by an injury turret.

We signed him in Toronto in the 2019 offseason, then cut him before the season started. I thought he was hot garbage. He then went to China and the G-League before all this. I am shocked. Shows me you can never really write any NBA player off.

These refs are confused.
What a finish by Ayton. I can’t believe JVG’s vintage idea worked!

Man this Suns team is fun and easy to root for.
What an awesome ending. Clippers tried their best to flop to a victory, Ayton smashes the ball into the hoop for the win.

Cam Payne. My mind is shattered. Again not a gambler but I'd have taken about 5000 to win a dollar that Cam Payne was not a future WCS star. How in the seven pits of hell?
What a finish. I like the crap out of this Sun's team, and I hope CP3s return catapults em to glory.

This is petty, but I CANNOT watch Cam Payne in a Bulls jersey ever again. One of the worst players (even though he was young) I ever saw. Absolutely atrocious. Actually hurts to watch him do well with another team. Like my mind is actually confused. Am I living in another dimension??

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Suns do make me realize that this easily could have been us.... Zack Lavine our Devin Booker.... A great young top pick coming to fruition in Ayton (but we never sucked enough)...
Maybe... Just maybe... If PWill can pan out, this could be us. Our group REALLY needs a good veteran. Vuc, Lavine, PWill, Thad, a savvy high impact vet... We could do this too.

LaVine isn't really close to Booker

I disagree. I think they are very close. If anything, Zach was even more dominant this year.

I really think people over exaggerate this. To me he actually seemed like Fred’s potentially best option since Jerami looked like he had blinders and no skills. He was also coming off major foot injuries. I hardly saw him as a worst player ever type. He just clearly struggled on a terrible team. Picking him up for Taj and Doug also made zero sense.
Valentine reminds me of him. Everyone’s claiming him to be the worst Bull ever, and that ill-advised 3P bomb sticks out, but all in all... he’ll probably have a good bench role in the future, barre injuries. Like Payne, he has enough guard/offensive skills to fit a niche. Injuries, defense and teams haven’t been his friend.
