Even if the team tanked as you wanted, it would have fell outside the top-4. You told me they should have finished where Orlando had.

3. Missing out on this pick may push us to be more win-now, rather than going through another rebuild on Ant-Cade’s timeframe.

I think that 2022 first round pick is used this summer. As you said, Rosas and Finch will be aiming for the playoffs.

It’s painful to give up a pick though, because the one thing Rosas has been good at is getting talent out of the draft. But he may be feeling his seat getting hot, and it should be.

SO_MONEY wrote:I see it exactly opposite. I think we probably have to look at trading KAT and building around ANT. So close. Adding a top talent to this team would have changed the trajectory, but we are pretty capped as far as how good we can be with the players we have. It also basically prevents us from trading future picks (non lottery protected anyways) for fear KAT gets fed up with being mediocre and knocks us down a peg by leveraging his way out. It also prevents us from being willing to go into the LUX or take on larger contracts we might be stuck with while also not having KAT. This had real effects no matter what we do.

Zero chance of Towns being moved this year unless he asks out.
And yes, I agree with you that adding a Cunningham, Mobley or Suggs would have drastically improved the future outlook of this team.

I don't believe that will be the starting five, but the Wolves were playing .500 ball the remaining 22 games (with Russell/Towns and without Beasley). If Rosas fails to bring in a starting PF or C next to Towns for the second straight year...
SO_MONEY wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if Towns is on the market, where we are listening to offers. Towns and Russell are not championship players, if they were your 3rd, 4th or 5th best players you would have something, but we fell short of our build and at best we are a high seed, worst we don't make the playoffs at all. Sometimes even though it royally sucks you need to move on sooner than you want to have some control. Get a bunch of draft capital and build around ANT and Mcdaniels, have some cheap young guys like Naz, Nowell and if you draft right, get hungry players, you could actually be better for it by having space to add FAs when your young guys overachieve...or this time you get to a point we were at but with the added draft capital we have we don't fall short this time. If the plan is to basically middle, make effectively lateral moves or risk not our having picks and KAT the fan base is going to move on. No one likes a middling team.

I would literally be stunned if Rosas considered this.
His entire mantra revolves around Towns. And for there to be some pulse of life the second half of the season under Finch once Russell and Towns were able to play together, not to mention Edwards developing before our eyes. It just doesn't add up.

Do you guys vomit on the following?
Draymond, Wiseman (or #7 pick), #14 pick for KAT?
I think my own board would shoot me...but I think Draymond would be good for a team that needs a new identity, vet and defensive attituded. You get your pick back or Wiseman and the #14th.
Vomit?
SO_MONEY wrote:What doesn't add up is knowing that there is a good chance we don't make the playoffs and we would be hoping KAT doesn't try to force his way out, reducing his potential value if he puts out a list of teams he wants. If you let this play out it can backfire, hell, even if we make the playoffs there is no guarantee Towns doesn't do this. And let's face it this team isn't going to win championships. Maximizing assets on a capped out team is how you build winners. If you think they are fine pretty much with were we are, maybe you are right, but Rosas knows he is going to get fired for it. I hope we have some managerial courage and competitive spirit.
