Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
The what ifs of a different order are gone.
Here is how I look at the real situation:
Presti can most likely pick one of Barnes, Wagner, Sengun, Kispert or Giddey.
He can mostly likely pick two out of Garuba, Butler, Dosunmu and Duarte.
He can most likely get two of Ayayi, Queta, Prkacin, Murphy and Petrosev.
He can mostly likely get one of Wieskamp (here or in an earlier group), Huff or Garza.
He can do other stuff with or without trades but this is my perspective without trades or at least not big ones.

#6 is the last spot you want to be, and trading into a consensus top 5 is going to take a LOT.
Get ready for us to be horrible again next season, expecting a bottom 2 record alongside Orlando.
The problem is I don't think we are going to be THAT bad. The chances are really low that we will sit Shai half of the season again so I'm afraid we will end up somewhere near bottom 5-8 and miss top picks on 2022 draft.
This was just an awful lottery. I don't understand the logic behind these odds. Why the hell would we have the biggest chances of getting 6th or 7th pick while we ended up on the bottom 4th spot?!
Somebody said that the flattering odds rules are meant to kill small market teams and it's hard not to agree on that...

Not much of a difference between those, either one is a terrible place to be given what our possibilities were.
It's just incredibly frustrating that if we LOSE the coinflip to Cleveland we end up at #3. Such bad luck this year.

Ah you're right I think, thought we swapped lottery ball #s if we lost the coinflip. I'm just frustrated and rambling.
The Boston and Clippers wins didn’t help us. That’s why this is so irritating because we have to create our own success. When is the last time something good happened to okc as a result of the nba rules? The new lotto odds, salary cap spike not being gradual just to name a few.

If Kuminga is there at five and that’s who Presti wants, I think he’s gettable. The downside is it was the pistons who were rumored to like Bouknight. Too bad they aren’t the team at four.

Wondering if they trade SGA now.
Saying that, its whatever, the odds were I think highest for the 6th pick.

Kuminga is wcs in my book. I'm hoping it's barnes, but expecting JK.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

That would be the ultimate pout. FINE WE'LL JUST STOP TRYING UNTIL YOU GIVE US A NUMBER 1 PICK

What do you think about Bouknight? I like the skillset but his lack of size scares me. Looks really slight and isn't the tallest dude for an NBA 2 guard. Looks like a Jamal Crawford ceiling, G League floor.

If we ended up outside the top 5 I was talking myself into Barnes after seeing his sit down with Mike Schmitz the other day. Really impressive physical tools and nose for defense. He just seems really young/immature but that's not a deal breaker.

Honestly just not sure they can get him in the right timeline barring a huge move now.
Wasn't totally sure either way but think it's gonna be a solid 3-4 years til they're good.

I’m torn on him. Wouldn’t shock me if he’s the guy that outperforms his position or becomes a microwave scorer off the bench kind of guy.

Yep, as much as it’s sucks thats how I have felt all along. Poku was our pick to play around with as a project. This was/is the year we can’t afford to miss if we are going to put good players around shai through the draft.

Counting this year we've got 18 first round picks through 2027 and we can still take back bad salary. All is pretty far from lost, friends.

I think it’s extremely unlikely the top five guys become the five best players. Seems reasonable that something like Bouknight, Barnes, Sengun or Johnson becomes really good.

Definitely. Personally I want to see the rebuild be successful with shai as a cornerstone. That took a bit of a hit tonight but I’m not going to give up hope until I see our draft pick on the court. If shai gets moved at some point, he’ll definitely bring some major value back. However I’d rather not change my avatar. I loved watching him when he was playing for the Clippers.

McBride and Grimes are wildcards for a middling pick. Livers maybe for last or second to last pick.

If there was an ideal trade to move up for Suggs at 3/4 I think Sam should do it.

Dude. You know those top five guys at least one two maybe three of them are going to suck. This happens every year and in a supposedly a stacked draft.ThunderBolt wrote:Old Man Game wrote:spearsy23 wrote:Kuminga is wcs in my book. I'm hoping it's barnes, but expecting JK.

Bouknight measured at
HT 6-4.75
WT 190
Wingspan 6-8.25”
That’s not terrible at all
Return to Oklahoma City Thunder
