Jonathan Kuminga (Poll)

Post#1 » by PrimeThyme » Wed Jun 23, 2021 2:42 am

Barring a surprise trade, or the unlikely scenario where he goes higher, there is about a 95% chance Kuminga is the pick at 5. I figured we'd better have a thread to discuss him.

6-foot-8, 220 pounds with a 7-foot wingspan. Versatile defender. Quick first step. Developing handle. Developing passer. Shaky shot selection. Inefficient. Somewhat concerning release from 3.

Trade down or out if he's our "prize."

If WeHam are smart, he's the pick. Cade, Green, Mobley and Suggs will 100% be gone before #5.

Got to do everything in your power to leave with a Suggs. If that means moving 5&8 then so be it we’re already a young team and have an early 2nd round pick to use if needed.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

In other words he’s never gonna be a starter.

You’ve got to love his aggressiveness if nothing else.

Hes crafty and has more of a natural feel, as opposed to AG who just forced things. . Shot just needs more repetition and game to slow down a bit, but potential is there..Does he have the work ethic / confidence to be great?.. high risk, high reward pick

Well we need a wing, he is a wing.

We need insurance for JI in the PF apot, he is.big enough to do so.

He is young and the most raw with the biggest potential of the top 5.

Our current players are probably happy that he wont steal their spot...

Other than that... why not?

Did his measurements get confirmed at the combine? If so, yes. You try to trade up first but you take him if you can’t find a a trade for Green.

Thats the thing... how do we know who is a star? Aside from the Zion LBJ AD and now Cade draft... no one is sure who is a star.

Even during the Luka draft everyone expected Ayton to have the same impact as AD, no one expected Bagley ( a high safe pick that time) to bust and Trae ( supposed to be an undersized shooting bust ) with Luka to become this big of a star in the top 5.

Now am I happy? No! I wanted Cade or Suggs.
Do.I think Kuminga has a chance to be a star with the SAME CHANCE as Mobley Suggs and Green? Yes!

The difference is that all of those other players can shoot and have actual basketball skills. Kuminga can run fast and jump high. So AG.

Nah this is the draft where it was pretty apparent who are the top tiers. We are not in the position to get one of those.

He did not measure.

Neither did Cunningham, Green, Mobley or Suggs.

It depends on each person's view.
Tier-1 Cade
Tier-2 Suggs
Green
Mobley
Tier-3 Kuminga
Tier-4 too long everyone else

This draft has only one top tier and that is Cade. The other top 5 all have different things you can out in the table which are considered star potential as well.

If you are pissed that ww didnt get Cade then welcome to the club. But getting pissed because you ate sure we cant get a star? That is too soon.

True.. we have the rawest of the "potential" stars. Then again it is still *star* potential.

No it’s not. This draft is like the Luka and Trae young. We’re not getting a star. Why do you think Weltman was pissed?

If during the draft you knew Trae and Luka were gonna be like this, then how did JJJ Ayton and Bagley get drafted before those two? No one knew Luka would be the face of the league otherwise all those teams would have drafted him first. Hindsight is aleays 20/20

Ok so this is fine, but what now?

I get you're upset, but they're not going to contract the team. These picks need to be made. So what is the next step?

"I'm angry because the lotto balls didn't go the way I wanted them to" is understandable, but like... we're moving forward, right?
