Wolves fans will take any semblance of victory to cope with the fact that they're Wolves fans.

I'm not here to talk trash.

I simply find it interesting how your collective thoughts have changed since the trade was originally made. It went from being such a valuable asset -- remember the hypothetical trades attaching Minny's pick -- to hoping you can get a starter at No. 7. And now thrilled that you won't have to wait another year in fear of it being outside the top-10 picks.

Wolves traded Wiggins for Dlo and top 3 lottery protected pick.
In one of the deepest drafts in recent years, Warriors go that pick at #7.
THIS year there could have only been three higher picks.
Next year, we would have to hope AGAIN that Wovles suck....and that our pick is better than a BETTER drafts #7.
The odds that the Wolves will suck again, although high, and that we would get into the top 3 is just dumb.
I would wager that this years #7 pick is likely the equivalent of next years #3 or #4 pick.

Other than not getting the 4th pick this year, it worked out perfectly.

I feel for Minny fans...it just didn't work out at all. Dlo is likely going to be trade bait this year....and I sense a blow up and moving on from Kat as well.

Wolves might be interested in having this years pick back and the 14th for Kat (with whatever salary stuff we'd have to do....re-signed Oubre, Paschall, Looney.

Now, Wolves fan may say "We don't want the picks or your garbage...Kat is an amazing top 3 center!" ;)

but the rest?

I agree. They say his advanced stats state he struggles with contact. That being said he is definitely a 3d guy. With klay saying he won't be full strength come start of season and his long wingspan with range, I think he is the pick. Especially if he can play some small forward.
They comp him to Glen Rice. Who I will take
Interesting player...with his off ball movement and catch and shoot ability, seems pretty plug and play with this roster as it is currently built. I think his upside is Tayshaun Prince.

Just a quick mock
Detroit Cade Cuningham
Houston Rockets, Evan Mobley or Jalen Green
Cleveland Cavaliers Jalen Green or Evan Mobley
Toronto Raptors. Jalen Suggs
Orlando; Kuminga
Oklahoma City; Scottie Barnes
Golden State, Moody
the point now is look who can slide
Orlando, Jalen Johnson
Sacramento; Wagner
New Orleans.
Charlotte,
San Antonio,
Indiana,
Golden State,
I think Davion Mitchell could slide to 14 more than Moody. Ill take them both

The reality is, nobody knows who will be a potential star at 7 or 14. The current league MVP was a 2nd rounder. Draymond was a 2nd rounder. Monte Ellis was a 2nd rounder. Lots of examples. Teams with good talent evaluation and development, solid coaching, and the ability to sign quality free agents generally end up with quality players. Looking forward to next season with Klay back. Very interested in seeing what they do between now and then.

I'd happily package both our picks to move into the top 4 (Cade, Mobley, Suggs, Green)..... but not for 5. (Kuminga, Barnes). Much, much prefer 7 and 14 and two bites of the cherry.

From the remaining players Bouknight and JJohnson strike me as having the highest ceilings. Their talent level shines out but who knows if either will reach their potential. High upside but 50/50 players for me.

Best fit for the Warriors imo is Wagner. Higher floor. Can shoot, pass a little and defend. Super long and is hopefully versatile enough to play up/down a position. Big fan.

So for me (in order of preference)

Wagner
JJohnson
Bouknight
Sengun

How is this draft any deeper than last year's supposed terrible draft? Remember, the reason last year's draft was considered poor was the lack of star talent at the top. Haliburton went 12th.

You realize that if the pick didn't convey tonight, next year's pick would have been unprotected. Meaning, if the Wolves would have sucked, which you claim as a high change of happening, you would have had a shot at a better prize.

I highly doubt this year's 7th overall will be considered as good/valuable as either the 3rd or 4th in next year's draft.

Again, when the trade was made, and then again at the half-way point of the season, the majority of Golden State fans were giddy over where this pick was likely going to end up. And now, I see things like 7th isn't so bad. Glad to have it this year than next. Talk about lower expectations...

Not sure where you're getting Russell is likely going to be traded from. In fact, once he was healthy and able to play with Towns, the team finished 11-11. Though not great, should they have been healthy and COVID free from the start, the Wolves would have participated in the play-in game.

Seriously dude stop wasting your breath (taps).... Most were just giddy to get Wiggins instead of DLo.

The pick is just a gravy covered cherry on top. Thanks again TWolves!

Going by the Jerry west philosophy and historical ineptness of the twolves, whoever we draft at 7 probably will be a hall of fame just to rub it in more that they selected johnny Flynn instead of steph curry

There are always 1-2 players in the top 15 who I just cannot understand why there's any hype whatsoever on them. Last year for me it was Okoro.. year before it was Reddish.. Giddey's looking like that guy for me this year since Zaire appears to be out of the top 15 most likely. It's an archetype that just rarely pans out

But really there are a lot of players in the 7-14 range that I hope we avoid, specifically wings that dont have good jumpers. That includes Keon Johnson, James Bouknight, Zaire Williams (also he's a Cardinal, BOOOOO), and of course Giddey

With the long list of good shooters in the 1st round of this draft (Moody, Kispert, Duarte, Wagner, Juzang, Hyland and probably a few more, we'd better get at least one knock-down shooter. Of the list above, I think only Moody, Wagner, and possibly Duarte have it in them to also be plus defenders, with Moody having the sizeable advantage over the field there. And then if we take someone who can't shoot, can we at least take someone who's got some legitimate defensive potential? Only reason I could get behind Giddey at all is if he was always paired with Jordan Poole, so Poole can guard PGs while Giddey moves over to SGs. But truth be told, I'd rather find a bruising big man with the 14, even if its a reach. We have no one on the squad who's a designated rebounder, a dirty work type of big.

lol I love it for us, I'm just saying that moving into the top 3 from #7 likely requires Wiseman going out, and that's probably not enough by itself either. Its just like selling cars - the second the car leaves the lot / the draft pick is made, it loses 50% of its value.

But I am definitely right there with you on Green. I actually had him and Mobley on the same tier as Cade, with Suggs getting a tier all to himself below my top 3. And Green would make the best fit here of the top 3 (I think Mobley takes some time before being a plus player in the NBA)

I would love to be able to land Davion Mitchell at 7 and Moody/Kispert/Giddy at #14. We are very lucky to have 2 lotto picks this year and there is a ton of talented players that will still be available.

Return to Golden State Warriors
