The top 5 picks are already in the hall of fame by draft fans. A bust or mediocre player is not even a possibility
Yep, all 5 of them are literally Michael Jordan.
I actually can’t wait for some of these dudes to get in the league and struggle and I’m very confident that will happen and it will be pointed out repeatedly.
Cade shot 26% in the NCAA tournament and barely beat a Bible college and lost to a 12 seed, he is not going to make the Pistons a threat any time soon
This convo is about possibility of cashing out on all nba regular season performance by Randle not top 5 picks.

Cade is going to be a bust. Cooper and duarte will be better players if they get the minutes. I dont see the hype in cade. Because he looks smooth? He also looks slow as a turtle is going to get slammed when he plays defense. his offense is based on being bigger than the opposing player which wont happen in the nab

I heard the Pistons are already better than us and favorites to win the championship next year.
But yeah, unless someone is literally as good as Lebron they will have to find other good players and a coach and trades and all the things that need to happen to turn a bad team into a good one.

I wouldn’t mind taking him in the first either, especially since we have 2 picks…even better if we could get him in the 2nd but seems like he might be working his way up

it matters because it also gives him positional versatility which is valuable in todays NBA. Marcus Smart is small but has a huge winspan which allows him to guard like 4 positions. It helps when you need to switch and teams take advantage of your weakness. I think wingspan matters way more than height cause you don't guard guys with your head.
Skill is obvious the most important (but you could watch him this year to know he has skill). A lot of guys have skill but they just aren't big enough to play in the NBA because they get taken advantage of. the wingspan helps

Positioning, footwork, quickness, instincts, etc. These are what make guys quality defenders especially guards, not long arms. Marcus Smart has those qualities.

Don't really know what OKC would want from us. Would imagine they would try and consolidate their picks rather than add more this year. They might send the farm to try to move up into top 4 with Cleveland or something?
Maybe go 6,16,18 for number 3?
Can't imagine Toronto, Detroit or Houston would want to trade out at this point, but Cleveland could maybe be convinced since they'll be stuck taking a guard most likely at 3.
Trading down #3 in 4 or 5 players draft does not look so appealing.

there is a lot of quick guards with good footwork that doesn't translate into being a good defender.. IQ matters I agree. But its also not a coincidence that a vast majority of the elite defenders in the NBA have + wingspans. I'm not saying its the only skill required I think its one of the 3 main ones.
IQ/Instincts
lateral mobility/footworks
wingspan
that is where you get elite defenders. My point is that the wingspan numbers sure didn't hurt mcbride's stock today.

On defense? No a lot of NBA guards know how to move their feet going forward but can't stay in front of guys defensively. How many NBA guards have long arms?
The only thing that matters with McBride is that he's a baller. GMs and scouts continue to pump up dudes based on measurements and year after year it proves to be nothing significant to write about.

Wonder if Golden State would want to draft back their 14th pick for 19&32. Now that they got Minnesota’s pick they can stock pile youth while continue on runs.

Kings at 9 & Pelicans at 10 are interesting. Both teams have bad contracts that we can take on in a trade up scenario. Hield, Bledsoe, Adams, etc

That Bledsoe contract is on 4 Mil guaranteed in 2022. If Knicks could grab that for 9

Hear me out too Griffin is on the hot seat. They might do the trade to actually have money in FA.

They have the Lakers pick in 2022. We can probably pry that off them...
Maybe something like
Knox, 21,32
for
Bledsoe, 10, and Lakers '22 1st
It saves them a ton of money long term and allows them to retain Lonzo guilt free.
