This will be a big year for him then. Hopefully he learns all he can from KD & Khris Middleton and tears it up for us with Cade

That's exciting for us to get to see Grant compete with the best of the best. The only downside is its less time to work on individual skillset improvements but overall I think it's a huge thing for him to get recognized like this it wasn't long ago he was just considered a roll player before he came to Detroit.

It seems like yesterday they had 11 players and today Grant was the 12th and final player added to the roster.

And if he does some light recruiting for (most likely) Cade and the Pistons organization, all the better.

Well, just add that to Weavers list of accomplishments.

He added an Olympic level basketball player to the damn team.

Glad to see a Piston repping the City, and state on the world stage.

This is actually a pretty big deal for Jerami. Very big, even. Stature of players matters to other players, and he just climbed a couple of rungs, I’d guess.

Jerami Grant (F)
Zach Lavine (G)
Kevin Durant (F)
Damian Lilliard (G)
Bradley Beal (G)
Bam Adebayo (F/C)
Jason Tatum (F)
Draymond Green (F)
Kevin Love (F)
Khris Middleton (G/F)
Jrue Holiday (G)
Devin Booker (G)

Interesting that they went with a roster with just one center. I'm guessing that's part of the appeal of Grant, a big who can shoot the ball.... I wonder if they'll run in to many other countries with traditional bigs and how they will end up fairing against them.

Great week for the Pistons. Hopefully Grant and Zack Lavine have some chemistry together, he’ll for sure be a free agent next year. Cade/Lavine/Bey/Grant/Stewart please.

What better way to work on your skillset than to practice daily with the best players in the league.

Recruitment can go both ways as well. These players could sell Jerami Grant on their respective teams. I'd be okay with that ultimately as well - if Jerami asked to be traded sorta deal. Draymond selling him on GSW would be near ideal IMO.
Weaver = Hinkie

So you’d want Grant traded for draft picks? You think this team needs future draft picks or Wiseman?

IMO the easiest way to keep Cade happy here in Detroit is to win. It’s not like Grant and Lavine are old, they both easily have 5-7 more good years left in them.

I get tanking and draft picks all over the place, but eventually don’t you want to start winning?

When you're playing and preparing for specific teams you are gameplanung against you won't have as much time to work on specific skills. I'm pretty sure Grant wanted to work on passing out of double teams and no one is double teaming him on this roster haha. It's more about repetively working on specific areas over and over again that you can't do when you are part of a team playing games.

That said, I'm 100% certain Grant will gain from this experience and it will further his ability to lead Detroit. It's a win win for him and Detroit.

when it comes to individual skills (like dribbling, shooting, etc.) off season work with a trainer is much more beneficial. you get 100% of the reps, 100% of the attention from the trainer and you have a rebounder to give you even more reps. in a team practice you're often practicing team drills, and any individual drills there might be you're only doing a fraction of the reps you would be doing with individual training.

for our own selfish reasons it'd be better if grant just stayed in the lab all off season but obviously you have to be happy for him to be on team USA. dude was a sixth man two seasons ago and now he's representing his country in the olympics.

Considering why he chose to come here this is the perfect opportunity for him to speak to "big name" players.

Pipedream it might be but who knows when a "star" might choose to team up with a buddy and come here?

Cade + Grant + Weaver + Max money = ?

How do you work on passing out of double teams on an individual basis? You literally need to be playing or scrimmaging.

The Pistons season ended close to 2 months ago. The Olympics ain't for another month. That's 3 months of individual work. Then about 2 months straight of playing with and against the best players in the world on a daily basis. Then another 2+ months of individual work again before the season starts.

Quite frankly I like it better that way because he can have a more immediate litmus test of his results and then go back and put the finishing touches on his improvement right before the season.
