Viewership Share For 2021 Playoffs At All-Time High For NBA

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jun 23, 2021 4:56 pm

Viewership share for the 2021 NBA Playoffs is at its highest since the league first began logging that data during the 02-03 season.

While ratings are down from where they were a few years ago, the NBA's share of linear television consumption is expected to continue to increase due to the value of live sports.

Ratings for the playoffs through the Conference Semifinals are up 39 percent from 2020. Despite ratings declined during the pandemic, the NBA secured business partnerships with at least nine major brands, including Hotels.com, CarMax, Clorox, Michelob Ultra, Oculus from Facebook and Microsoft.

All-time high due to the uncertainty of championship and fans not being fully familiar with current teams / rosters remaining.

League should have a sweet 16 style tournament -- 72 game season -- with last 10 games the start of sweet 16 --- this will generate parity, excitement and fan interest ( both casual fans & hardcore fans ).

Personally I've found these playoffs way more enjoyable to watch than any others from recent years. While there are still plenty of superstars still left, it's the not having overly pampered "bigger than life sjws" like LeBron which has made these playoffs so great. Instead we are watching pure talent and younger ballers such as Giannis, Booker, Young and Kwahi when healthy.

I didn’t think of it but I agree with you here. When we had LeBron and Curry and Kerr and the rest of the sjw nba crew it took away from the playoffs. It didn’t really bother me to the point I wouldn’t watch but it was always hanging over the playoffs instead of letting the nba be an escape. I noticed people weren’t trying to get together to watch hoops like they used to.

This new generation is so much better. It isn’t that we want them to “shutup and dribble”, i want players to talk about things that are important to them, its that when you got guys like lebron lecturing people and then cowering to the Chinese government im like give me a break.

You do realize that LeBron is just an individual that plays basketball, right? He is also a brand but still fairly minor in the big scheme of things. If cowering to the Chinese is what offends you, I would assume your also offended by the vast majority of corporate America that puts the blindfolds on and happily does business with China.

It doesn’t just offend me, it scares the hell out of me
