Maybe Kawhi with the promise of trading for a guy like Lavine or Beal to pair with him could get things done.

A rebuilding package of Obi, IQ, Mitch, #19, #21, Dal 2023, and pick swaps isn't too shabby for a rebuilding team.

The big three of Randle, Kawhi, and Lavine (or Beal) would be quite formidable.

He wouldn't come over for those guys. I like Levine for a team on the rise, which we are but Kawhi isn't going anywhere that potential is even a topic of discussion. But tell him he instantly contend and it's a different story. So the package deal I'm thinking is Damian Lillard. And I know guys are worried about selling the farm but it's gonna happen at some point. You hope it's for Lillard and not Wiggins.

But really, selling the farm is such a derogatory thing. I don't like it when it's my first move but am OK if it's your move after you've already acquired a superstar. Kawhi is that superstar. You make it almost a combined move. Kuwai and Lillard while hopefully keeping Randle. Now that's a decent big 3.

2020/21 season. The Knicks were champions after trading Obi, Knox, Frank, some picks, some FA players (Cousins, IT) for Jamal, Shae, Haliburton, Barnes and Whiteside.

Randle (finals MVP)/Barnes
Mitch/Whiteside.

21/22 season. They extended Randle, traded Jamal, Barnes and Whiteside for picks, Brandon Clarke and cap space. They got Kawhi, Rose and Schroder in FA. Drafted Kuninga. They traded RJ, Kuninga, IQ, Rose (FA), Shroeder (FA) for Morant and Towns. The Knicks were champions with this team:
Morant/Haliburton
Shae
Kawhi/Clarke
Randle
Towns (finals MVP)/Mitch

22/23 season. Lost Mitch in FA. Knicks drafted Chat, Banchero and D.Collins. Traded Banchero for Edwards.

I get why they'd want to build around that core in a vacuum, but really when you're in a position to be drafting 3rd, you just need talent. Say what you want, Sexton might be the most talented player on that team.

With Gobert's recent showing and just recent overall history, Allen is worth at most what, $20 million..? He's not breaking the bank if they're smart.
