Kinda. In the past year, he’s gone from best prospect since Lebron (or the next Durant) to someone who will “just” be a top 10 (probably top 5) pick in the 2023 draft.

Holmgren never even really considered MN even though his dad played here. He’ll go top five. Desperately needs weight but is so skilled on both ends and plays with edge/toughness. His game against Emoni Bates was epic.

Really? I watched him play against Hibbing and he was anything but an NBA player. He almost screams Big skinny European...like poku

This projection at least had him going #1. You have to be able to project into the future. There was plenty of cases of Ball and Edwards not being worthy of top picks in the draft, but turns out they were.

Funny you mentioned Hibbing. Kevin McHale played for Hibbing. My school had a 6'6" inch all state center named Frank Wachlarowicz. He easily outplayed McHale on the way to us winning the state title. However, McHale ended up in the Hall of fame and Frank played for St. John's University in Minnesota and never made the NBA.

Exactly shows how bad this next draft will be. That Banchero guy at Duke looks like a giant bust as well.

All I'm saying about Chet is before people buy into all the 1 overall stuff...let him play a few college games against legit size and athletes regularly and see if he stays at 1. I have my doubts. Now, I could see him signing overseas and being a great player.

I don’t think he goes #1 overall. He’s actually been passed on most mocks by a PF going to Duke. I worry about the weight, but the way the NBA is played now, he’s an absolutely prototypical fit as an NBA big skill wise. Would be shocked if he doesn’t go top five, but there are always a couple highly ranked prospects that don’t produce their freshman years and slide, so who knows.

But yet in another thread we should hoard draft picks and build through the draft? Where would that get us?

That's quite the set of extremes there.

At this point in the last draft process, people thought LaMelo was all media hype and would never make it in the league. Now we're saying Holmgren will go from top HS player to not even good enough for the NBA?

So in your estimation he can be GREAT overseas, but not in America. Time will tell. I've never seen him play, just saw somebody had him going #1 overall. Minnesota guy so I hope he does well even though he spurned the Gophers.

He didn't outright say it, but he implied it.

I will always cheer for MN kids, but this is a case in which Suggs’ success essentially assured that Holmgren would be a Zag. Those two are very very tight. I hope MN has better luck with future MN players with Johnson, but it’ll take awhile.

People are going to have different opinions on player's talent levels. It's allowed. Let's not pretend that top end prospects have never failed.

Just listened to the Ford/Hollinger podcast that just dropped. They are higher on Sengun and Barnes than the consensus and seemed to think either Suggs and/or Kuminga could fall to 7. Suggs falling would hurt my heart.

Timberwolves are hosting a draft camp here in Minneapolis, not sure how this came about but it is cool. All teams are invited.

Noob question, do we have a 2nd round pick this draft? and where does it fall? If we are doing a pre-draft workouts, are we looking at 2nd round options, or is it possible we will buy/trade for late 1st?

Suggs isn't getting past Toronto.

When you do an NBA podcast every week, you eventually start saying different things. Remember when Ant, Wiseman and Ball were set to go 1-2-3 and then podcasts kept saying it wasn't a lock they are 1-2-3. When it was all said and done, they were 1-2-3. I think the top six guys are the top six. The turkish center - who undersized and slow - will probably last until the Hornets.

We don't have one as it was part of the Wiggins trade. Wolves only owe another pick moving forward though, a distant second round pick to NY who was sent to unload Spellman and Evans deals (also acquired with Dlo), which means they have assets to work with.

Teams like the Pelicans have 4th 2nd rounders this year which hardly will keep. Likely are going to stash someone but a future second could work. But given the success they had with Naz, McLaughlin and even Kelan Martin (who still in the league) I think they are going to do their homework with the undrafted guys. Bolmaro and whoever falls of the draft could be our rookie class.

I think your somewhat right. I feel like there’s becoming a top three: Cade, Mobley, Green. Then a next three: Suggs, Barnes, Kuminga. I’m not a Kuminga fan. I could see him dropping. Barnes will be helped be measuring like Kawhi with a 7’3” wingspan.

Hollinger has been on the Sengun bandwagon for awhile. His theory is no player that has dominated a league as good as the Turkish league (just under Spanish league approximately) at age 18 has ever failed in the NBA. We’ll see.

I mostly distrust experts. You're right, no way Toronto passes on Suggs.
