That's not a winning basketball player.

I have no idea who is available when we pick, I can never get a handle on the order but my top 10 I have

Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, Keon Johnson, Josh Giddey, Cade Cunningham, Jared Butler, Jaden Springer, Isaiah Jackson, Corey Kispert, Sharife Cooper.

I am happy if we get one of those guys.

This definitely seems like the same thing Knicks fans were doing when the team was looking for a new head coach, and people seriously thought Kenny Atkinson was a better head coach than Tom Thibodeau. I then noticed why a lot of them chose a guy that had 1 good season with a team that finished with a 42-40 record: He was from New York.

This James Bouknight thing feels a lot like it has a lot to do with him being from Brooklyn.

We did pick Obi and when he didn’t hit the ground running all the Knicks press has been “He’s from NYC and is a fan of the team” to try and justify it.

You can’t blame Bouknight or the fans for thinking they factor that in.

Also I was against Thibs and knew he would drag the team to a first round elimination. I just thought having a chance at a high draft pick was worth more…… but let’s not dig up how both sides were right and we’re drafting 19 and 21

Bouknight pretty much came out and said he wants to be a Knick more than anything. I doubt he lasts to our pick. He’s too skilled as a scorer to drop that far. With that being said, I wouldn’t trade up for him if Bones is there at 19

I think the knicks would have to get into the top 10 to secure bouknight.

If that is who they peg as there guy quality is better the quantity. Trade 19/21/32 if you believe he is the guy.

Yeah I think he is going lottery. There’s just too much talent there

Now the bigger question is… how much of a gap there is between him, Bones and Tre Mann?

I don’t get the Bouknight hype. Maybe he will grow on me. His efficiency attacking the hoop and in between game is nice. However what does this mean for RJ? I’m not for RJ being a catch and shoot guy, I still believe in his creation ability.

Bouknight has the upside of Zach Lavine. That’s why he’s hyped. We need a 3 level scorer and Bouknight fits that bill

Thats a great question. Bouknight has the most explosion/athleticism but might have the most questionable outside shot.

If you believe you can unlock Bouknight shooting I think he is the best prospect of the bunch. All our scoring type guards and Mann probably has the most experience actually being a main ball handler/distributor but probably projects as the worst defensive guard of the bunch.

So if you asked me:

Highest Upside - Bouknight
Safest Pick - Hyland
HIghest Bust potential - Tre Mann

Basically I can see Bouknight and Hyland playing multiple positions on and off the ball they both have really good wingspan to defend multiple positions. So gives them room to be more versatile in where you play them and how you play them.

I see Tre Mann more as a microwave guy off the bench. He really can only defend point guards with his size and he isn't a good defender so you kinda have to hope he is really good with the ball in his hands creating for himself and others.

Thoughts?

I think I agree with everything. Forgot to add Ayo Dosunmo in that group with them as well. If Ayo’s shot is legit, he might be better than all of them. Hes like a 6’5 Sexton with court vision. Think he is a bit underrated imo. I’m personally just hoping we land one of these guys. These my main targets. Couple other players I like but I want these guards the most

It will be interesting because you also have to value where you get them.

Bouknight you would have to trade up

Hyland/Mann/Dosunmo you could all get from the 19-32 range IMO. Depends on who drops. So you got to weigh the trade up cost too.

I think we’d have to move Obi + 19 to get into top 10 for Bouk. And with Julius on the verge of an extension, Obi doesn’t really have a place here. A team like Orlando or GSW could do it.

Yeah I just see guys like Barnes and Usman being ineffective cause of their lack of offensive ability and broken jumpers. Ben Simmons in the playoffs basically shows that, no matter how good your defense is

It depends on what teams they go to. Scottie Barnes as a small ball 5 for the warriors with Steph and Klay...and him being a point 5 could actually be very effective. But you would need to have a unique offense around them. But his 7'2 winspan I'm sure he can defend most 5's in the league outside of your Embiid or Jokic types...but who can defend those guys anyway.
