Yet Cuban has been awful since the day he let Nash leave
This was the Mavs Record in the 7 years after letting Steve Nash walk:
2004-05: 58-24
2005-06: 60-222006-07: 67-15
2007-08: 51-31
2008-09: 50-32
2009-10: 55-27
2010-11: 57-25**Denotes NBA Champion.
Yeah that NBA title sure did suck.
How many titles did Steve Nash win after the Mavs made the "monumental" mistake of letting him leave?
Mark Cuban's team won the Western Conference twice without Nash....while Nash never won the Western Conference.
Yet Mark Cuban has been a horrible owner in all those years. Mavs won despite Cuban not because of Cuban. Any other owner would have had multiple rings with Dirk. Dude let Nash leave who ended up having two MVPs after Mavs' career. He paired Dirk's peak with dudes like Dampier, Lafrentz, Anthony frigging Walker. He refused to pay Tyson Chandler after championship who ended up winning defensive player of the year after leaving. He now paired Luka with the next Lafrentz dooming Luka's career as well.
Claiming Cuban to be a good owner is like claiming Dan Gilbert is a great owner. Gilbert had five NBA finals plus championship. Hence by your logic, he is one of the best owners in the entire league.
This is the stupidest crap I've read on this board. The Mavs got (much) better after Nash left and they upgraded their defense and athleticism.
I noticed you did not answer my questions at all. What other NBA franchises have averaged 56 wins/year over a more than 5 year stretch?
How would Nash have multiple rings with the Mavs when nothing in his career has ever shown him capable of winning a title....much less making the Finals?
I respect Mark Cuban because I'm old enough to remember what the Mavs were before he owned the team.....and that was with an owner that did not care at all about the fans or winning.
Part of what made Cuban such a celebrity was that the Mavs went from being the worst franchise in Pro Sports to one of the elite NBA franchises winning 50 games in Cuban's first 11 full seasons culminating in the 2011 NBA title.
This thread is funny....the Mark Cuban haters are out in full force because the 21 Mavericks had such a horrible season as the 5th seed in the playoffs with one of the best young players in the entire NBA.
Reading this thread I would think the Mavs were a lottery team each season.
