What do people think Jalen Green is going to be in the NBA? Zach Lavine is a realistic ceiling for him as a player.

no
cant sign him to extension right away, so he will reach free agency for sure, and even if he resigns that's a 5 year 200 mi deal
i rather keep the the 4th pick on a rookie deal, with rfa rights afterwards.

I’m calling a Sexton + Nance Jr. + Prince for Simmons deal in the off-season if Simmons is moved.

I don't know about Green's ceiling being higher than Lavine's tbh. There are very, very similar players.
I think Green's floor is like a Nick Young, mircowave type scorer and his ceiling is Lavine.
But chances are he's gone before we're on the clock so it's probably a moot point.

While its not the best use of asset management but I wouldnt be surprised if Love was moved along with Sexton just after the draft.

I hear you on the extension part. He could potentially leave and that would be a disaster.
But strictly speaking from a talent perspective, I'm not sure keeping the 4th pick just because he's the 4th pick and we'll have is bird rights is the right way to evaluate the situation.
Whether now or later, this team (as well as every other team) needs an elite shot creator. Someone you can throw the ball to and can get you a bucket. Truth is, I'm not sure Suggs will ever be that guy. Now, does that mean he's not useful? Of course not. Does keeping him mean you can't get that elite shot creator elsewhere? Again, no. But as we're seeing in this postseason and pretty much every single one before this is that you cannot win without one of those guys. It's perhaps the most important skill in the NBA.
Of course, this is all hypothetical anyway.

I didn't see the Heat extending Nunn, Robinson, and Herro over the next two offseasons but I didn't expect Herro to be the odd man out.

Not sure I agree with that. LaVine really surprised me with his playmaking this season. Whereas "tunnel vision" is a live issue with Green.
But yeah, not giving up the 4th without an extension on LaVine's part. Also, from a cap management perspective, Suggs or Green would be a LOT cheaper than LaVine for the next half decade. Leaves money to bring in a C.

Yeah, I don't think I will trade #4 for Lavine as well given the same reasons.
What I hope is we explore trades to move up to secure the guy we really want rather than hope he falls to us at #4.
Back in 2017, Philly acquired #1 from Boston by trading #3 and a future first. Similarly, in 2018, Dallas got #3 by trading #5 and a future first.
So maybe it's possible to acquire Green with the #2 or #3 pick if we trade up. I see a very slim chance that he will fall to us at #4. If a future FRP is all I'm giving up, I'm not concerned about that. We can even throw in our SRPs from this year to sweeten the deal.

Re: 2020-21 Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread V2
Small trade
Utah in: Kyle Lowry (S&T)
Utah out: Favors, Ingles, 2021 FRP (#30)
Raps in: Favors, Ingles, 2021 FRP (#30)
Raps out: Kyle Lowry (S&T)
Why for Utah?
The Jazz get a Championship caliber PG in Lowry who's a proven playoff performer, who provides leadership experience, and is also a real playmaker to help with their offence. Lowry is a major difference maker and can definitely raise the Jazz's playoff ceiling. Think Chris Paul & the Suns.
Why for Raps?
Raps get Favors who will be utilized as a backup center or potential starter to help bolster the front court. Ingles is also included in the deal as the Raps get an another knockdown 3 point shooter that can come off the bench as the SF or PF possibly. Raps also get an additional first round pick in this year's draft to select another young prospect.
Why for Lowry?
Lowry goes to a contender in the west who was the #1 seeded team last year and also gets paid according to his desired market value of 25 mil x 2 years.

Is this assuming Utah lets Conley walk?

Yea, Conley was injured and unreliable in the playoffs this year and he is going to enter UFA. Conley was also getting paid 34 mil. last year, so I imagine Lowry at 25 mil. is kind of a bargain for them.

There's a whole other half of the game of basketball that he doesn't play. So yes, theoretically he could be but I guess we'll have to see.
I will say this though - as much as I love Suggs, if I had to choose between the two, I would go with Green because of his higher ceiling.

We're watching two guards right now (Devin Booker and Trae Young) who also don't play defense and are carrying their franchises right now in the conference finals. The Raptors are already an elite defensive team, so I don't think it hurts having one wing on the floor that isn't strong on that end. Plus, with his intangibles, we could probably turn him into a good defender.
