Mid to Late 1st Rd Picks of interest..

Post#1 » by blueadams » Sat Jun 26, 2021 6:42 am

In case we package 2 or 3 of our 2nd rd picks to move into the late 1st, or...God forbid...Killian Hayes for a mid-1st rd pick.

Latest mock draft from The Ringer: https://nbadraft.theringer.com/mock-draft

Lot of guys who look like they could potentially be big helps..

COREY KISBERT, Sr, Gonzaga. Projected 10th pick.
...6-7 wing might be the best shooter in the draft, 44% from 3. Hard working and athletic enough to be a decent defender, possibly. Might slip due to age-looking unathletic.

DAVION MITCHELL, Jr, Baylor. Projected 7th pick.
...Only 6-2, but a 45% 3pt shooter...and a really good defender for his size. Might slip due to size.

FRANZ WAGNER, So, Michigan. Projected 8th pick.
...6-9 wing. 38% 3pt shooter. Okay defender.

JALEN JOHNSON, Fr, Duke. Projected 11th pick.
...6-9 wing. 44% 3pt shooter (low volume). Has some Def potential.

MOSES MOODY, Fr, Arkansas. Projected 15th pick.
...6-6 wing. Good defender. 38% 3pt shooter.

KAI JONES, So, Texas. Projected 16th pick.
...6-11 big who hitz 39% from 3. Has only been playing a few yrs, but seems to have some defensive potential.

JADEB SPRINGER, Fr, Tennessee. Projected 20th pick.
...Only 6-4, but a great defender. 44% 3pt shooter.

CHRIS DUARTE, Sr, Oregon. Projected 22nd pick.
...6-6 wing, 42% 3pt shooter. Doesn't sound like the greatest defender, but great effort. Elite shooter.

TRE MANN, So, Florida. Projected 24th pick.
...6-5, 40% 3pt shooter, combo guard. Sounds like he's got a little work to do on D, but a great shooter.

AYO DOSUNMU, Jr, Illinois. Projected 30th pick.
...39% 3pt shooter. 6-5 combo guard who could take some PG pressure off Cade.. but who compliments him as a great 3pt shooter and solid, versatile defender (unlike Killian).

ROKAS JOKUBAITIS, 20, Lithuania. Projected 26th pick.
...6-4 combo guard who hit 39% from 3. Haven't seen him play but he sounds okay on D.

JARED BUTLER, Jr, Butler. Projected 27th pick.
...Not as tall or versatile defensively as Dosunmu at just 6'3", but a little better of a shooter, 42% from 3

Far more likely to land a pick 22-30 for our 2nds due to guaranteed money most of those teams would rather spend on vets (obviously not HOU at 23 and 24 but cheap owner so )

That said it wouldn't surprise me to see Weaver conjure something on Draft night.

We just won't know it's on until it goes down

Weaver said he will attack the Draft again, so yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he add a late first and keep only one second.

Davion Mitchell is who I’d want if the Pistons get a mid 1st rounder and he’s available. I like Wagner too but I see him as a late 1st.

Chris Duarte feels like a guy that will fall to the second round and end up being a decent NBA rotation player. I can't see him going top 20 because he's already 24 years old (he is the same age as Bruce Brown, and he's older than all our draft picks the past few years). He's a high floor low ceiling pick for sure. I actually think he goes within the first few picks of the second round.

Ok in spite of my better judgement-

Brooklyn might move 27 just to get out of deandres contract and get a little more room under the luxury tax.

Suns might move 29 for veteran help.

Jazz might just unload 30 for 2nds to avoid paying the 1st.

I’d acquire any of those and offer it to Houston to finish the Christian Wood trade.

Ideally I’d like to see us keep the 1st pick, add a pick in the lower teens/upper 20s, and stay around 37 to pick a guy for a two way contract.

As far as specific players, I hear that we are good on shooters. So I guess a big

It’s Corey Kispert, with a P. This is now the second time you’ve misspelled his name. It helps that you represent players properly if you expect to be taken seriously. Clean up your act.

Mitchell projected at 7 and Springer at 20? If that's consensus, it's a significant shift for both of them. In opposite directions.

Is there a way to block this POS from seeing/responding to my posts. Or for me to at least not see anything he writes?

There's just a plethora of wings in this draft already shooting at an elite level from 3. With Weaver in the driver's seat, this is very exciting. If he can find us another Bey............ :)

Maybe it's changed with winning the lottery this year, but I think Weaver knew exactly what he was doing with that long time heavily protected FRP to Houston - he was making it so he couldn't trade a FRP, or more specifically making it so Gores couldn't demand he make a big "win now" treadmill move.

A Global Mod stepped in and gave you a 12 hour freeze on your account.

Other posters, this is being dealt with. Please do not respond further to his posts.

Plumlee and early SRP probably is the best chance at making something happen. I'm not sure how CuJo works - his money is not guaranteed, but I think it would need to be guaranteed in order to include him as ballast in a trade. Something like that happened with Ariza dealt for RoCo last off-season, Ariza's guarantee needed to be increased to make the trade work.

I don't think Weaver will sin eat any contract that would cut into 2022 FA Cap Space. I'm also not sure Weaver will overtly made the Pistons worse this season by taking on bad contract for a rotational player - ie trade Plumlee for a big man corpse. However Stewart/Okafor/Cook would be passable if this is the direction that Weaver went.

I expect CuJo to be kept - hope he's a TDL asset to flip with Hayes/Lee ready to take over mid-season.
