Last Epoch is $28. Everyone should get Last Epoch.

Already have Hades, but was considering Grim Dawn. Feel like MikeIsGood will tell me it's worth a buy; think he has like ~180ish hours in it?

I'm doing the classic "load my cart with everything I want and slowly whittle my way down to something manageable." Currently looking at Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Grim Dawn, Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus, and some DLC for Dead Cells and Total War: Warhammer II.

Grim Dawn is indeed great. I go back to it every so often and was considering doing so now actually with some mods to fill my current not-much-time-to-game-and-want-something-mindless void. But GD doesn't have to be super mindless. I mean it is in the ARPG sense, but it can also be quite difficult from a build/grind perspective if you want it to be, and the story (IMO) is the best among modern ARPGs. Like, I actually read the lore, hah. But it definitely plays slower, more like a D1/D2 game. Maybe slower than D2. Just something to keep in mind.

Last Epoch is my favored game at this point. It's EA right now so not on as deep of a discount as GD is, but it feels like a nice, more modern take on ARPGs without going overboard into POE or D3 territory (opposite ends of the modern spectrum). Great skill tree system, and honestly really awesome devs who are engaged with the community.

What did you think of TW Warhammer 2? I'm guessing you liked it if you're considering DLC. It's not what I'm looking for right now as I know it's a super deep game, but I've always been interested nonetheless.

I'm actually thinking about getting Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin for Switch. Also on sale on Steam, but I presume a controller is better for it and I read there were some PC controller issues. Combo rice farming simulator and side-scrolling ARPG...which sounds wild.

Grim Dawn was my GOTY in 2016. I still jump back on every couple months and get caught up in it again.

All makes sense. We'll see what my wallet thinks.

I actually haven't played a ton of Warhammer II yet, but I want to invest some time in it and was looking at what good add-ons were available on sale.

I'm betting I can wait on Mass Effect to get even cheaper around winter, might slim this list down to just Grim Dawn and the DLC for the games I already own to not go overboard.

I bought some DLC for Three Kingdoms, Yellow Turban Rebellion. I love the romance mode in Three Kingdoms. Being able to just destroy legions with just your general is hilarious.

The early opinions on Mario Golf are....not good.

Just can't justify spending $60 based on reviews so hopefully my friend does and I can borrow it.

It feels like there hasn't been a great golf game since, like, TW PGA Tour 2004 or 2005.

Ended up spending just under $10 for a lords pack for Total War: Warhammer II and the Fatal Falls DLC for Dead Cells. Convinced myself I had plenty of neglected games I could play more of than buying more games to neglect. And boy, did I forget how good Dead Cells is! The Metroid Dread announcement had me jonesing for a Metroidvania and that’s one of the best ones out there (albeit a roguelike). Super rusty but excited to go looking for boss cells.

Scarlet Nexus is anime as hell and it's why I'm struggling to get through the first hour. Gonna keep going and hope it clicks. But everything so far is just so, so stupid.

Is this Valheim mixed with an ARPG? Because not going to lie that looks like something I’d enjoy a lot.

Yup!

I kind of feel bad that people will likely point at this and say “They’re ripping off Valheim for a quick buck.” Yet, when I looked into it, it was in beta testing as far back as 2019 and likely Valheim actually took some inspiration for its ideas from it. I might give this a go at $20 when it comes out, but will probably wait for some reviews/impressions.

Played the Mass Effect Remastered trilogy, first time playing the series. Definitely blew away my expectations, not sure why I never played these at the time they came out. Ending of Mass Effect 3 kind of sucked though, I cannot lie, left a bad taste in my mouth.

Is Andromeda worth playing? Figure I'll give it a go since it's on Game Pass.

Since my life is over and I want to die, I thought I'd focus more on my gaming.

I started "Blood, Sweat, and Pixels" and I'm loving it so far. Good call on that!

Also, if you need a new mouse, the Razer Basilisk + $50 Steam card is only $130 on Best Buy, great deal

PGA 2k1 that's out now is pretty solid in terms of a good simulation game. TW just had that really good blend between arcade and sim that was pretty untouchable.

I actually have the new Mario Golf and it's "good", imo. 7/10. At first I was ready to return it due to finding out that it didn't have the 3-click shot mode that the 3DS one had, instead giving you a section of your power meter that if you choose to throw some extra heat, you will get RNG randomness on your shot. But after playing it, I actually find this edition more difficult than World Tour because you don't actually get the full flight path of your ball, so it's tougher to see where it'll land given elevation, wind, obstacles, etc. I also seem to be in the minority of actually liking the XC Golf mode (cross country). Shaping your shots as well adds an entirely new element that the 3DS one didn't have (being able to draw your ball in the first 1/3rd, pop up the elevation in the 2/3rd, and then come back in the final third is really really cool)

But like every Nintendo game that isn't Zelda or Mario, Nintendo makes some boneheaded decisions in terms of content, and all the "little" things that just make you ram your head against a wall going "how do you **** this up?". The only saving grace is that Camelot makes this, and Mario Tennis Aces became a very very good game with the trickle of content / fixes it got.

So probably not worth it now, but in the future I could see this being a very good game.

Scarlet Nexus is the first game to really make me want a PS5. Any fellow JRPG types get their hands on it?
