Would Brogdon play position other than point?
Brogdon is a great scorer, and he has a team first rep, do you think he would move off ball? He seems to be quite connected to the point position, do you guys think he would be willing to try? Players now days don't tend to be open minded. He has a nice shot, and it would be better for him defensively.

He did that in Milwaukee. Not doing that brought him to us.Pacercoltboiler wrote:Brogdon is a great scorer, and he has a team first rep, do you think he would move off ball? We went through this crap with Paul George. Now, granted, Bird may not have handled it well, but I'm of a mind if you tell him to play SG he better do it or leave.

Thought I saw a quote attributed to Brogdan this past year where’re he admitted he’s better suited to play off the ball.

I would like to have Brogdon, Levert, and Sabonis share playmaking duties. If that happens, I don't think it matters who gets called the 'point guard'.

And yet it would be nice to have a player who actually is a point guard. We have TJM, but need more than that. Think of the attributes and talents of any PG from any of this year's playoff teams. We have no one who matches them.

In theory I think those three sharing pg duties on offense is fine. The problem surfaces when we move to defense. Who guards the opponents pg?

Thank you for the info, it is nice to hear that Brogdon might be willing to move. In honesty, I think he does a good job at the point, but I would move him just because his shot is so smooth and natural that he could be a weapon on the wing. Also, we need someone else to guard and put pressure on other teams pg.

I'm sure all three could share playmaking duties, and that Brogdon is good, not great at doing so. My main problem is that would mean that three out of five would automatically start out not being able to guard anyone. Moving Brogdon, and taking advantage of his shooting would allow us to get a defender on the ball. This might just shift the problem however, because LeVert and Brogdon on the wings would get us killed defensively. Myles could take care of the defense in the middle, but it would be nice to have a guard who can play defense.

I wouldn't say anyone can't defend based upon what we saw last year. Carlisle has a reputation for being flexible on offense. I hope he hires a defensive guru with the same attitude. I wouldn't be upset to learn he still has Dick Harter's schemes.

Re: Would Brogdon play position other than point?
After seeing Brogdon play a season for us I can see why Milwaukee traded him to us and re-signed their stud scorer Middleton. Then they free up space to get a guard I so wish we would have brought in prior in Jru Holiday. I think Brogdon is more suited to play the SG but Pacers tried to make him a PG because Victor was SG. So now we have LeVert as SG. Definitely need to trade one or the other. Brogdon has a very smooth shot that I like and can drive for layups. LeVert has the ability to get his own shot and I don’t feel he would bring much return in a trade so we’re stuck with him. Brogdon would bring more in a trade scenario I think. I agree we do need a PG that can guard opponents fast PG’s.

I’ll defer to those who can suggest any available to acquire defensive players in the league. Spotting them are not easy for me as I get so addicted to scorers

Re: Would Brogdon play position other than point?
I think Brogdon is a wing defensively and he'd probably be better off defending wings full time, which I think was the case in his last season in Milwaukee.
In theory, shared playmaking duties among Domas, LeVert, and Brogdon could work, but at least last year under new Nate the system tended to bog down and they really needed someone like McBuckets to inject some movement into the system. Maybe Rick can fix some of that with clever scheming, and also we haven't really seen how Warren might impact things, but ultimately I think we might simply need some better personnel.

I think Levert generally guarding 1s and Brogdon guarding 2s would be doable. The place Brogdon struggles is guarding the smaller, quicker guys.

I can see us drafting an answer to that. Aaron hasn't been it and could be jettisoned.
