For some reason I've been feeling like that as well.
Masai will need to make a choice on if we're going for a rebuild or a re-tool

Siakam to Golden State for Wiggins and #7 and #14...go go go!!!
Going to be tough to trade him because of the surgery he hadRapsfan07 wrote:vulture wrote:I just can't see Siakam playing on this team next year. Call it a hunch.

I agree. As much as he's paid, I wouldn't be in a rush to trade him as of yet.
Looking around the league, there aren't any PFs better than Siakam that are actually attainable.

As I've said, the two premium positions in the league are 2-way, switchable 3-4s who can shoot. And Raps have two who are elite, or have the potential to be elite. A trade only makes sense if Raps want to completely tear down and rebuild around OG and the 2021 pick(s).
But ... to me the Eastern Conference right now doesn't look strong enough to justify doing that.

It addresses our C issue for the future and provides a better fit for Indiana.

I don't think Hood's unguaranteed contract helps in that deal. And no-one's going to guarantee it.
But if Lowry walks, Raps can just absorb the net of Turner's and Boucher's salary (say around 10 mill) into our cap space. I think Pacers would prefer that. Which leaves enough to re-sign Birch for 5 mill or so.
Of course, Raps would have to add a 2022 or (ideally) 2029 FRP to that. And maybe one of the second rounders.
It all depends on whether Mobley falls.

Toronto out: Siakam, picks 46 and 47
Toronto in: pick 5 and Wiggins
Golden state out: pick 7, pick 14, Wiggins
Golden State in: Siakam
Orlando out: pick 5
Orlando in: pick 7, pick 14, pick 46, pick 47
Given our track record of getting solid players in the 2nd round I’d be cool to take out the two 2nds and give Orlando a future 1st instead
With the 5th pick we could add Kuminga to take Pascals spot and play alongside OG in the front court
A future core of Suggs/OG/Kuminga sounds pretty good to me

I don't see us trading Siakam for just the #5 and a negative value contract (Wiggins). I don't care how much the team likes Kuminga (or Barnes). At least have the GSW #14 in there, and compensate Magic some other way. Lots of intriguing prospects in that range.
I thought there was a good chance of Siakam being traded if Warriors got Minny's pick at #4. But 7 and 14 just aren't enough. This is a clever way of ratcheting it up to the #5, and since we have the #4 pick, they're (almost) equivalent.

I doubt the magic would do it. They already have 2 top 10 picks and a really high 2nd. Bringing in 6 rookies is a bit much.
And there's a big drop from 5 to 7. It's pretty much guaranteed Cade, Mobley, Green, Suggs, Kuminga and barnes are going top 6.
After that it's a craphot
