Re: Post Lottery Mock Draft
It's quite simple to me, assuming we keep both picks
Kuminga and Bouknight
Green or Suggs and Barnes or Kuminga
I don't want to trade up because the only sure fire franchise player is potentially Cade, potentially
Kuminga next to Isaac could make us elite for years if they both get to slightly above average from 3.
Barnes would be a great addition and add something extra
Bouknight gives us a potential star (Michell type) at best or a Clarkson 6th man
We know about Green and Suggs
So
Fultz/Cole
Bouknight/Hampton
Kuminga/Ross
Isaac/Okeke
Bamba/WCJ
Or
Fultz/Cole
Green/Hampton
Barnes/Ross
Isaac/Okeke
Bamba/WCJ
I'm OK with that for next season. Like the past decade we are missing a 'star' but those are nice 10s to begin with

This is both good and bad. Good because of the reason you have stated, bad is because WTH is Kuminga doing? Is he just satisfied being the consensus "worst" 5? He should be doing his best to steal that #1 spot from Cade. Does he have a promise in the top 5? Does he like the team that promised him?
Guys like Barnes, Bones , Keon, Bouknight are starting from the ground running trying to boost their draft stock.
Guys like Bassey,Thor and a few have dropped out of the radar because these 2nd round pick guys probably have 1st round promise already.

That’s his agent’s position for certain. The top prospects skip the combine every year. Other guys that get guarantees skip as well. Anyone that knows their measurements will take a hit and has an excuse will skip. Isaac and Okeke skipped. Okeke was injured, but there was no reason he couldn’t be measured. It is what it is.
You can’t really glean anything from Kuminga’s decision. It would’ve been surprising if he showed up given his projected draft status and perceived reputation as being toolsy. He would be risking draft stock by measuring smaller or underperforming in athletic tests. There is no reason for him to risk that.
"Xatticus has always been, in my humble opinion best poster here. Should write articles or something."

Re: Post Lottery Mock Draft
Someone mentioned earlier that one of the teams above us could take Kuminga early, leaving Suggs for us but we pass and take Barnes instead. I could definitely see that happening.
However, I’d like to imagine we could be shrewd and swing a deal with OKC and swap the 8 for 6 and grab both guys, with some added incentive from us.
So we take Suggs at #5, then:
ORL: 8 + Fultz + CHI pick
OKC: 6
Without Suggs on the board, OKC are happy to move down to 8 where they take Sengun, pick up another pick, and add a rehab project in Fultz. Adding Fultz might be considered an overpay for us, but it clears space at PG for Suggs, and also gets money off the books.
WCJ/Bamba
Isaac/Wagner
Barnes/Okeke
Ross/RJ/Harris
Suggs/Cole
Bamba might get the start over WCJ for some added spacing, as perimeter shooting won’t be the strongest without improvements from our guys. But Suggs and Barnes will be leaders and winners who will put this team on track.
Next draft we look for that pure scorer type, unless someone emerges internally.

Thats a lot to ask/give for the #6.. as a lot agreed and said, theres a little to almost no drop off in talent in the 6-10 range.
In fact, the rankings are all over the place on who should be there.

why wouldnt OKC take Suggs to pair with SGA and set their back court for a decade?

Bouknight and Moody would not be a bad draft.

I definitely think there are scenarios where the Magic would pick Kuminga or Barnes with Suggs still on the board and it just bums me out lol.

Bouknight and Moody would not be a bad draft.
Scoring,shooting and defense.
This would be a good draft.
I could also see the Magic go with Giddey at 8.
I am sure he is high on their draft board.
May be they go with Moody at 5 and Giddey at 8.
Shooting, defense, playmaking and court vision.

It’s more a case of knowing who you want, and making sure they don’t get away. This is under the impression WeHam love Barnes, but having Suggs fall to them is too much of a blessing to give up.
The Chicago pick is likely mid 1st or later if Vuc + LaVine can figure things out. Not much to lose in the scheme of things. Fultz, we’ve discussed before and disagree on his value. I’d take Suggs over him in a second, so there would be no room for Fultz here, and the cap space saved gives us better flexibility in the future too.

Knightro wrote:89Magicfan wrote:Mickael Pietrus? Both were strong in the post. About the same height probably. Same weight almost. Athletic but have some of the same weaknesses.
The obvious difference is age. Pietrus didn't debut in the NBA until he was already 21 and wasn't really an effective player until he was 24.
Kuminga's gonna still be 18 during his first training camp and preseason and if he's good enough will be halfway into his *second* contract by the time he turns 24.
Age is one of the biggest appealing points for Kuminga clearly. Theoretically it gives him a significant runway to develop his skills that older prospects typically don't have.
Look at Chuma Okeke. He's a guy that pretty much everyone on this board seems to like and believes can be a solid contributor to a good team. But he was a two-year college player and missed a whole year because of his knee injury. He's a couple months away from turning 23.
He's more than four years older than Kuminga. How good do you think Kuminga will be at Okeke's age? Probably a lot better than Okeke was in his rookie year, right?
Sometimes it takes even the best players a few years. I went back and looked at Kawhi's numbers the first few years. He played well but he didn't really hit full fledge star status until about year four, and he had a few years of college ball in him. If we end up with Kuminga, there's a legit possibility we might not know what we have until the end of his rookie deal.
