Adams at 2B and Hill at short might be the optimal solution in 2008. As mediocre as Adams is, he's probably .100-.150 better in OPS over a full season than McDonald, plus he's a LHB. Of course, moving Hill to short would be the issue. Personally, I'd take the downgrade defensively.

You have to believe that if that were to happen, J.P. just isn't trying hard enough.

Granted David Eckstein leads a terrible group of free agent shortstops, but with whatever little hope I have left for J.P., I fully expect him to explore every possible avenue to find an adequate upgrade over John McDonald.

It's just not cool when your SS falls in the same bottom of the barrel group as the Adam Everetts and Tony Penas of the starting shortstops world. Not cool.
