Bet Cade's jersey number as a Piston
So I saw a lot of Cade's Pistons' Photoshops with numbers 1 or 2, but we all know that he will not be able to wear those here.
Cade played with number 2 in college, number 1 in high school and number 10 with US national team. All 3 jerseys are retired here so he'll have to switch to a new one.
Place your bets here in this thread. Mine is on number 8.
Below a reminder of retired jerseys and numbers of current roster.

2.
They need to take that number out of the rafters and just have Chuck’s name up there like Jack.

I like this idea, especially if Cade (as he should be) is the pick. It's a positive gesture to Chuck (as 'daddy rich' well deserves) and a great welcome gesture to the #1 pick.

Re: Bet Cade's jersey number as a Piston
Will the Pistons ever put 22 in the rafters for Tayshaun? That would need to be answered before he'd consider 22 IMO. I mean Vinnie Johnson is retired so it's not outside the realm of possibility.
I don't bring #2 out of the rafters, it's instant disrespect in the eyes of some. I mean Dre was #1 and gave it up for Billups when he re-signed here and then Reggie Jackson claimed it and even wore it after Pistons retired it for Billups. Even if Daly's family themselves offered it, it would be seen as Cade wanting it.
5 or 8 would make sense - depending on who's not brought back. But if Cade chooses his number before those decisions are made it would be further limiting.
I'll go with #12. He was #1 at Montverde and #2 at OK State.
I really don't care as long as it's not "0". I've always hated that.

Chuck was alive when the number was retired in his name. He's dead now. There is no chance Cade gets 2.

Hopefully he asks for 2. Chuck can be retired but the number being retired is low tier franchise energy

Retiring numbers has always been weird to me - eventually we'll have dudes wearing number 60+
And there's something to be said for carrying on or living up to the "great tradition of #[insert favourite number here]"
That said:
12 makes the most sense but time will tell.

I always felt that the 5 starters in 2004 all deserve to have their numbers retired. Of course, I also think Grant Hill (possibly the most talented player ever to suit up in Piston colors) should also be retired- I'm more lenient than some.
It's a non-issue for Cade though. The number isn't retired now, and they retire numbers that current players are using all the time. Reggie had number 1 when we retired it for Chauncey and now that he's gone nobody will use it again. If Cade has enough of a career here to have his number retired, retiring the same number twice has precedent in sports- the Yankees retired Mariano Rivera's number 42 after number 42 was already retired for every team in the league for Jackie Robinson. Rivera was already using it when this happened.
I don't know if that's the best choice. I'd say 12. He could pick anything though, really.

If the Pistons retire #22 I'll do the biggest eye roll ever. Tayshayn does NOT deserve to have his number retired.

I couldn't disagree more. It's one of the cooler traditions in team sports.
If anything, caring what number you wear is what's dumb. Take whatever number they give you, make it your own, and get it retired in your name one day.

"He's dead now?" I think most long-time Pistons fans are well aware. Putting Daly on an equal par with "TraderJack" is an honor, and it's not like Chuck will be offended, since he's dead now. Is it more of an honor to retire a number he never wore? It was a suggestion that I liked, and still do.

Here's the point - If Daly were still alive, I'm sure he'd sign off on putting #2 back in circulation for Cade. But he's not alive. And you can't bestow a forever honor upon someone while they're alive, only to take it away, or even alter it, once they've died. Can't happen. The speculation that he wouldn't care is irrelevant.
