You trade Ben, you have to trade half the team to fit whatever new identity the team has. Morey will consult Doc, Doc will say lets run it back.

If Morey thinks we have a shot (Embiid healthy, Simmons improved) at the title he'll pull the trigger on some better talent to fit around Ben and JoJo,

Sixers were no.1 in the east and their defensive fast paced play was destroying teams. Don't forget Ben and JoJo are young and everyone has to lose a few times in the playoffs to rise up to where they need to be to win. Also this was Doc and Morey's first year, neither of them knew what would work and what wouldn't.

Be excited to run it back.

Sorry, but this playoff loss is going to remain fresh for quite some time. It's going to have a super long shelf life! I'm talking box of pasta shelf life. Not gonna forget this one any time soon and the idea of running it back at the moment sounds like a bad one. Now, I personally would be fine running it back IF we somehow were able to trade for Collin Sexton while keeping Simmons, Tobias, and Embiid. We need a scoring guard. There's literally no arguing that. If the team thinks Maxey can take a huge step and be that guy for us, then i'm going to trust the process, but I think Morey is looking to add talent, and I think Ben Simmons is very much available for trade at this time. Again, that may change. We'll see how the draft shakes out. If we can make moves on draft night and creep into the lotto or late lotto to take Trey Mann or a another scoring guard, i'll be fine running it back. But we have to add talent and it has to be in the form of a scoring guard.

You really thought they would win it all in Doc's first year after a couple of hasty trades? I didnt...

When will people realize that stars win the NBA? The NBA isn’t a quantity over quality type of party. I don’t care if you have 5 Thybulles and Maxey, they will never equal a Dame Lillard.

You run Dame/Embiid/Tobias with whatever is left over and this team is matched up in a dogfight with the Nets in the ECF next year.
always a jump shot away.

It's not stars it's a system that everyone fits into and has bought into. GSW didn't win because of stars, none of them were stars until they started winning. They won by playing a certain way on both ends. Same with the Lakers. Same with Toronto.

I wonder if we would have to trade half the team if we traded Embiid or if the identity is already in place.

I'm sure Sixers fans will talk themselves into the team if they run it back. That's what the fan base does. Come the fall, fans will believe Simmons will start scoring and shooting jumpers like has happened almost every year since he's been drafted. And believe that Harris can develop into a closer. I don't think the fans actually believe it, but fans want hope so they talk themselves into it. And then the hopes will be dashed yet again and the cycle continues.

But frankly, it doesn't matter if the fans buy in or not. It matters if Embiid does. And if they run it back and have another disappointing playoffs, he's going to want out of here in the worst way. So before you talk yourself into running it back, keep in mind it could possibly cost you Joel Embiid.

Embiid will sign an extension before the start of next season.

It’s not just stars. It’s coaching as well.

The 3 playoff losses with Simmons and Embiid. Brett brown was afraid to use take Simmons out.

Doc rivers afraid to bench Simmons unless he was forced to.

Doc rivers didn’t see a tiring Embiid down the stretch. That’s on the coach.

It’s the execution of plays on the players. But the coach has some say on the players on the floor.

Steph, KD, Bron and AD weren’t stars before they won?

It’s mostly stars.

Then you just need a coach who can manage personalities, not get in the F’ing way of greatness and watch it work.

When Ben Simmons is your second best player you better have great coaching.

I was talking abotu GSW players. You do need stars, just not a whole team full of them like people on here want.

Sixers have their stars too.

I would be shocked if this teams ends next season by running it back. They almost made a major trade 2x last year and I'm sure are feeling a lot more pressure for next year.

Morey didn't say much in his end of year press conference, but what he did say was he had to do a better job getting the right players to help them win. I guess he could mean minor moves, but based on what I said in the first paragraph, I think he's looking for more.

I dunno a 3x all-star and all-nba team player seems like a star to me.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
