Cimber isn't great by any means, but that's a really bizarre way to shed $1m for the Marlins.

**** your asterisk.

Wait, so the Marlins did all this just to dump 1 million? That can't be right lol. Maybe they just see something in the prospect they got from us.

I guess, but they got Cimber from Cleveland for cash considerations at the start of the offseason for 100K, so not sure what the market was for him, but saving a mill and getting to play your players of the future might make sense. And getting a lotto ticket prospect I suppose.

One other upshot here: while we don't need Dickerson now, when rosters expand to 28 in September, a left-handed bench bat will be useful, even if we're awash with outfielders at current. So his injury is a bit convenient from a roster-management standpoint. And more so if we can shift him to the 60-day.
With Panik gone, it really makes sense to call up Kevin Smith now, if we can clear a 40-man spot for him (by, for instance, DFAing Zeuch).

Half the articles I read describe Cimber as a side-arm pitcher; the other half describe him as a submariner pitcher.
Does anybody have any better insight? What angle does a sidearm become a submarine?

At least they traded for a position of need to get what doesn't seem like an injury prone or reclamation project guy.
I'd still like to see them be open to use more AAA arms than Saucedo should the usual bp suspects continue to suck. That includes anyone not named Romano. The bp ERAs are ugly.

He's very good against righties, just not very good against lefties.

An especially on point movie reference on the night that the Jays acquire a submariner pitcher.

Sounds like Dickerson could be a longer term option
Passan said they only took Dickerson to get the side armer but Marlins GM confirmed Jays interest in Dickerson dating back to last year
I hope they are careful trading Gurriel that’s a nice
Contract that’s valuable

Hmm... Dickerson is in the final year of his deal though. I don't think we'd have any interest committing dollars (even if minuscule) to another OF. If he can get back to showing he can play he at bare minimum gives us a lefty bat that has shown can hit for power in the past. I personally wouldn't read into it anymore than that at this point.
