Simple pick trade: #27 for #34 and #36

Post#1 » by HartfordWhalers » Wed Jun 30, 2021 1:57 pm

Brooklyn out: #27
Brooklyn in: #34 and #36

Why? Brooklyn has a lot of roster spots open, and you can only get so many aged ringed chasers without having the energy burst of youth as well.

OKC out: #34 and #36
OKC in: #27

Why? Get the better contract structure (4 years gtd then rfa), and move up 7 slots to get the guy they want. With way more draft picks than they need, consolidation, even in this range, makes sense.

I tried to look if this thread already existed, so apologies if it did.

I was just thinking about posting this same but instead of 27 with 30. OKC has to consolidate those picks somehow, this seems as good as any to my eyes.

I think Brooklyn can just buy one of those picks, right? And keep 27? That's what I would do. Cash/future 2nd. OKC should be happy to roll over an asset and get some money.

I wouldn't do that as OKC, they should be able to get their max cash limit in salary dump trades as is.

Then make it 2 future 2nds. Or target the Pels or Magic who should have high 2nds for sale.

Good idea.

But even then, wouldn't Brooklyn still be better with the two swings at the apple (now 3), versus standing pat at #27? I think 3 energy guys would be great for them, or one stash and 2 energy guys. Just seems a roster in need of a trade like this.

Maybe? I just think a late 1st has a certain cache in a trade that early 2nds don't. And I'd want to be turning Jordan into something useful with that pick as really my only tool.

But I suppose you could talk me into doing both of your trades and drafting 3 upperclassman hoping one or two of them could contribute right away.

If Brooklyn doesn’t use their pick to dump Jordan then I wouldn’t mind this.

What about something along the lines of Jordan, #27 and a future 2nd for #36?

Imo that would work if DJ had one year left, but the price should be higher with 2 years. Drop 36 and add another future 2nd.
