Only 9 above .500% postseason shooting performances compared to a whooping 49 playoffs games of below .500 shooting?!?!?
31 years old and more of a chucking defensive liability then "fat Melo"?
No thnx you!
I'd rather continue developing Immanuel Quickley instead of overrated ball hog Dame.

Re: Dame on The Verge Of Asking Out!!!!
I definitely think we should mortgage our entire future to bring in a star that's not capable of getting us past the 2nd round.
That way, we win 48 games every year, lose in the first round, and never even come close to competing with the top 2-3 teams in our conference and totally ruin our cap, flexibility, and raft outlook.
Because that's never happened to this franchise before...right?
We haven't done anything even remotely similar to that in the last decade did we?
Seriously, we can't sell the farm for Dame without an absolute guarantee that another max player is coming.
Or else we'll have Dame, Randall and a skeleton crew of role players, no draft picks, and minimal cap flexibility to do anything.
If we were already really good and knocking on the door, then I'd trade for Dame, but I'm not ready to sell off everything we have and give 6 picks or whatever for hm. Then what? We have Dame and what else?

This old tweet resurfaced from Dame. He don’t even wanna be on the east coast. Never seen Knick fans so thirsty for a player who kill cap space, future picks, players, and is over 30 and who wouldn’t get this team a ring.

You can't just assume this is the same situation. In fact Kawhi could be less damaged goods than Kyrie/KD and maybe even Harden. He is a bit of a risk but depending on what the doctors say may be well worth it considering the level of player he is.
Noone is assuming anything, Kawhii's knee is about to become dust and you want that for what? 30 games a year?

Re: Dame on The Verge Of Asking Out!!!!
Do we beat Atl with Dame this year?We almost defintiely would have won game 1 which we shouldn't have lost to begin with. Game 2 we won. Probably win 1 of the 2 in Atl.
Secondly even if you don't think we beat Atl and possibly other teams in later rounds in the East.... What if Lillard is a package deal with another guy as many of these guys are? Is it still not worth it?
With Thibs we arent going to be a cellar dwellar any longer. We aren't getting top 5 picks anytime soon.
Look I love a home grown team as much as anyone but unfortunately the store bought teams are the ones that win in the NBA much more frequently.
In regards to Kawhi, Without knowing the exact prognosis on Kawhis knee we can't assume he is cooked just yet. He could be but we need to know more first. L

I agree we need another max or close to max player in addition to Dame. However let's not sell what the Knicks did this year short either. We finished 4th. Randle proved he is a bonafide star. Not the likes of the guys in the top 10-15 per se but a guy that if he was the number 2 or number 2A option would be a pretty incredible team under this coaching staff.

Didn't Sexton sign a long term extension with Cleveland for like $50M?
No thnx man.
Because we'd have to pick up his salary + trade valuable assets for him.
I much rather continue developing Immanuel Quickley. Kid was the SEC Player of the year (beating out Anthony Edwards) and coming off an NBA All-Rookie team selection.
This kid is going to become an absolute NBA superstar @ PG and imo it's our SF position which really needed to be upgraded on the wing.

Re: Dame on The Verge Of Asking Out!!!!
Dame is a fantastic individual player but he's also kind of a "me" player.
He doesn't really tie things together or keep his teammates connected the way Curry, Jokic or LeBron does. He either shoots a lot (efficiently so, to his credit) or he defers, but there's no space in-between where he contributes without shooting the ball. I don't view him as the inspirational leader type either.
He's not a 1A on a championship team in my view. He's more likely to be a second option. At 31, and with no Finals appearance on his resume, you don't trade away your entire future for that.
We absolutely need an elite shot-creator like Lillard. I just don't think he's the guy we should be aiming for considering age, timeline, cost.

My counter would be: Does playing with a Randle and/or another max cat under a coach like Thibs who got Randle to be less of a bully ball guy himself change things? I would hope/think so. He is a pretty high character player who hasn't played with a ton of other superstars around him per se. And the ball movement on this team was so much better than prior years.

Well, I don't view Randle as a second option either, let alone as a "superstar".
He's more in the David Lee, Carlos Boozer, Al Jefferson category as far as All-NBA players are concerned in my book.
Is he a good partner for Lillard? Maybe in the pick-and-pop. But Randle is lacking in scoring efficiency, and playing next to Lillard would likely put him more in a finisher role. The fit isn't bad, but I'm afraid the pairing would highlight Randle's limitations as a scorer. I do like the idea of Randle's playmaking leading to Lillard 3s, but my prediction is that teams will simply stop overreacting to Randle's ISOs (as the Hawks did) and stay home on shooters.
Randle is good but not good enough to warrant a win-now trade for an aging superstar imo.

You are either absurdly stupid, or you Dame **** your wife while you watched. Why do you hate this man so much???
And stop he has literally always played VASTLY SUPRERIOR TEAMS (actually didn't I already go through this with you and now you want to point out individual shooting numbers? It's borderline obsession to sit and count each individual playoff games against some of the greatest teams ever assembled and teams that were just flat out better built/coached, but do you I guess). Literally nobody in this forum wants ONLY Dame. The only way we as a community want Dame here is if someone else comes to join him. Because just Dame+Randle isn't too much better than just Dame+CJ.
But btw. You know for a career playoffs Curry Shoots under 50% from the field. DID YOU KNOW LEBRON SHOOTS UNDER 50% IN THE PLAYOFFS FOR HIS CAREER (although he's super close at 49%, and that is LeBron).
You are creating arbitrary metrics to make Lillard seem like a bad player. Just so happens very few player in NBA history shoot over 50% from the field in the postseason (most of the one's who do are Bigs btw).

This is a sound argument against trading for him.
This is the big thing for me as well. Some have made the case that we need to accelerate the timeline in order to take advantage of Randle's Bird Rights.
Randle is a #3 for me on a championship team. I'd rather let him walk than mortgage our future for the wrong opportunity because we feel like we're on a time crunch.
That has nothing to do with Dame as an individual player. I'm speaking more to the decision making paradigm that I look at this through.

Nothing against dame i love his game but if I were building a team I would try for SGA and sign Ball keeping Barret and some combination of quick and obi. You might be able to get SGA for picks and Knox like this yrs picks and the the 2023 picks. .
Why because with this you can go into next yr and make a choice on Mitch and still have rights to SGA and Randle with cap to gt Mitch to about 18 million a yr.
The key is not to over spend for Ball and walk away if the money is too much and start with a quickly /SGA back court and use that money that would have gone to Ball to resign Bullock and Burks
