Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
We really dodged a bullet by him not signing the 4y//84 mil contract that was supposedly offered by Palinka. I can't wait till this guy is gone. He never felt like a part of the team and was looking for a payday. Demanding a starting spot was already a cocky move and prevented things to flow naturally for our team. He would've been better off our bench but he didn't want to. I hope he learns how quickly his value can plummet when you play like trash put up donuts in the playoffs.

Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
I don't have anything against him personally.
But you're probably getting Reggie Jackson, Cam Payne and Lowry with the 10 mil MLE if you want a PG. Maybe not Jackson after the playoffs he's having, but I can see the latter two being available at that range(considering Lowry's close to being 36, I see him wanting to compete for a chip' rather than asking for the big bucks).
You can get TJ McConnell for sure at that price. All of these I'd rather have over Schroder on this Lakers team, even at the same value contract. When you consider Schroder's asking 2-3 times more than these guys it's a no brainer.

I wouldn't mind playing hard ball with him one bit. Offer him 4/72 and a take it or leave it notice.

I'm fearing Pelinka. If the wanted to sign this guy for 84 millions he still could give him that money or a similiar contract making that Kuzma's contract look even good. Literally a scrub of a contract for a ballhog who can't shoot and u have PG's with the MLE even better I rather have Lowry much more than this guy.

Definitely not an elite FA. He simply does not fit with players on our roster. My preference is to sign and trade Schröder followed by signing him to a team friendly deal if possible. Letting him walk for nothing should be the last option. He's still a good player. Coming off his last season in OKC very few, if any, could legitimately question whether or not he's a starting caliber PG. He's only 28, so there is a possibility he'll regain his shooting touch, which is currently the major knock against him IMO.

Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
The only S&T option would be the Nets IMO.
Dinwiddie wants out but he either wants a big fat contract or come back home to LA on a more friendly deal per sources. I doubt he wants the MLE though, that's what he's getting both with us and the Clippers. That's a little low for him.
He's not coming back to the Nets, he made that one clear. So to not lose him for nothing, we can do a S&T with the Nets in which the player(Dinwiddie ) gets a more fair deal based on his talents, 15 per is ok I think(considering he's coming after an injury). Schroder or Kuzma back to the Nets in the S&T to make the salaries work.
It's up to Schroder if he wants to go to the Nets and be a backup(he needs to agree to a contract in the vicinity of what Dinwiddie would get as well). He'll probably say no just cause.
Kuzma has no say in this, if we want to send him instead of Schroder, we can. The Nets are in no position to be choosy. It's either a player back or absolutely nothing. I think we'd have no problem agreeing to personal terms with Dinwiddie.
But this is the only scenario I see as a S&T option for Schroder, in which we'd get a decent piece back. No other team are giving up assets for him. The Nets don't really have a choice because their asset is a player leaving for nothing in return, that's why they'd do it, but the ball is in Schroder's court if he wants to go there.
Personally I'd let him walk and explore the FA route. Dinwiddie is ok but I think we can do better even with the MLE if we want a guard.

“According to Armin Andres, Vice President of German Basketball Federation (DBB), the point guard is expecting to a deal in the range of $100-$120 million,” wrote TalkBasket.net. “Andres mentioned the fact as it the reason why Schroder is not representing Germany this summer as the burden of insuring his future contract of that value is too big on DBB.”
Any team with cap space would have to be crazy to offer him any contract close to that, I think he might be going where Latrell Sprewell went...

There were reports that Spencer Dinwiddie want's to come home to LA and it's obvious that he doesn't fit in Brooklyn but he recently got a major injury and equally disturbing is his below averaged 3pt% which is 32%, hit below 34% in 6 of his 7 year career. Kyle Kuzma looks like Steph next to him in the perimeter.

Yea I have no interest in Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie is not an upgrade over Schröder. When you factor injury into the equation it's an easy pass for me. Dinwiddie is a run-of-the-mill guard with average to below average efficiency. I'd certainly not offer anything more than MLE money to him.

Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
I was aboard the “bring Schroeder back because the Lakers don’t really have any other options” train but not anymore. NO ONE is giving him north of 20 mill per and he knows that. He’s just trying to over leverage the Lakers and it’s annoying me.
Let him walk and just get a TPE for him, and look for a more cost effective guard with that TPE.

Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
Let me ask this, what teams in the league that needs a PG and have the cap space to spend on him?
Knicks? They rather go after guys like Lonzo
Pelicans? They will try to keep Lonzo or go after another guard
Rockets? The way they are going, they are going with the youth movement
Heat? They may look at Lowry or resign Dragic
Nets? They are so far screwed with cap that their best bet is to sign and trade for guys that already have a contract
So that leaves Dennis with the Lakers. All these free agents will be in for a rude awakening with very little teams with cap to spend like that. The Lakers may go 1 year 20$ and that is it IMO

There are lots of options: Conley and Kemba Walker are two of the better options of guys who can both penetrate and shoot while Rose is probably more attainable but isn't the same type of volume spot-up shooter.
They should definitely let Schroder walk. If you resign him to a big contract now strictly to trade him later, you may fund that task much more daunting than you think.
It won't be easy to trade an overpaid Schroder. There won't be many suitors.
Let him walk and reset the deck with a new guard, this tine one with championship intangibles.

Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
Schroder put the blame on Lakers for his poor performance. How the heck did he not think about the green light coaches give him to dominate the ball. Like I said before, he is a me first player rather than a team first player. I believe he disrupted the team chemistry, not only because of the way he play, but also his personality which weakened the team bonding.
Back then in the 2019-2020 season, Lakers had a group of players playing solely for team success and put personal achievement aside. They have great relationship and bonding on and off the court. The excellent team chemistry finally contributed to team success.
From the time he requested for the starting job, many of us disliked him. Maybe, that was already a clear signal as to his personality.
With that said, I would play hard ball on him. Sign a fair deal of 3 yr / 45M deal or walk away from the lakers. Even he signed, I will trade him once that hard cap rule stuff cease to be effective. The down side would be that Lakers needs to get familiar with new players in the season again.
Alternatively, I rather try Dennis Smith Junior with a 2 year contract on the cheap. Mike Conley, Rubio, Dragic, Lonzo and Lowry are pipe dreams. Not realistic with our cap situation.

Re: Schröder's Catechism: an elite FA, or nah?
I actually think Schroder was best served as a starter.
To me, the presence of Tucker off the bench as a non-shooter makes bringing another non-shooter guard off the bench a bad idea.
Tucker is an extremely young game-breaking penetrator who can shoot straight every once in while. He needs to continue to come off the bench, but he needs to be an understudy for a veteran PG who has a similar skillset.
As I've stated before, other than big fish like Conley, Walker, or Lillard, Derrick Rose is clearly "that dude".

That's silly and not happening. The projected teams with cap space are:
Knicks: $53M
OKC: $51M
Spurs: $48M
Dallas: $34M
Toronto: $28M
Charlotte: $24M
Who is offering him a contract for 18-20M plus out of those teams?
Knicks: Have Quickley, will want to re-sign Rose.
OKC: Have SGA, they've already had Schroder and traded him for a reason
Spurs: Derrick White, Murray make a combined 30M next season. A lot of money in two guards who can't shoot.
Dallas: That number will be cut in half once Hardaway re-signs.
Toronto: Already have Freddy V making $20M. You think they're going to pay Schroder more than a Raptors main cog?
Charlotte: Already have Melo and Graham (who's an RFA), they won't be wasting money on Schroder.
If a team outside of those teams want him - Awesome, that makes sign and trade opportunities for us. Which in my opinion, would be the best scenario other than a team-friendly short-term deal.
I agree with the logic that none of the teams with cap space are going to spend it on Schroeder - especially teams with solid PGs in place. At the same time, i think they could overpay on a short-term deal if they strike out on their primary targets.
Generally the Lakers are a contending team over the cap, so the key here is to find a balance between not losing a good player for nothing and not paying him so much money that he turns into a bad contract.

Totally. Our best scenario contract wise and what I'd offer him would be:
3 year deal (partially guaranteed 3rd year): Starting at $20M
4 year deal fully guaranteed: Starting at $16M

Any thoughts on the following sign and trade?
Schroder & Harrell to Magic for Otto Porter, Bamba and Fultz
I know it is difficult with having both Schroder and Harrell agreeing to join the Magic together.
Fultz's health / condition and shooting are very questionable though.
But we could get what we actually need in the squad. A 3 pt shooting center to pair with AD, a very good 3&D player and a good pg to control the pace. After that, we only need some minor addition to the squad and we are good to go.

I dont think you can add other players to a sign-and-trade deal. So if we're dealing Schroeder it's only his contract going out.
As for your targets i think i like them as prospects, but probably not trade targets. I do believe in both Bamba and Fultz as prospects (still), but now is not a time to gamble on upside - especially at that price.
Porter is a FA who i think would fit well at the 3, but he's only played a handfull of games these past couple of seasons, so i'd be reluctant to pay him all that much. I guess you could trade for him using Montrezl Harrell?
(Harrell to Orl for s/t Porter on a 3-4 yr mid-level-sized deal).
How about:
Steven Adams (17M + 18M). Would allow us to flip Harrell and/or Gasol and move on from Drummond.
Eric Bledsoe (18M + 19M). Lateral move. Cost controlled. Better defense.
Tomas Satoransky (10M) + Thad Young (14M). Would give us defense, shooting, slashing and versatility. Bulls save money.
Terry Rozier (17M). Lateral move. Better shooting.

So any Schroder + Harrell trades are forbidden under the CBA ?
Adams is sometimes to kind to his opponents
Bledsoe disappear in every playoffs
The third and forth seems better fit and more realistic though I don't really know if Rozier worth that kind of money
