Very informative Wizop ! Nice to see the plays diagramed out with video from Mavs.

Now the burning question is does the brain trust think that the pieces we currently have will execute his offense and play defense, or do some of the current squad need to be jettisoned for defense. With Brogdon, Sabonis, LeVert, and a healthy Warren there’s no shortage of scorers. Just a shortage of defense as we know.

if you haven't been reading Caitlin on IndyCornRows, you should start. her technical analysis is amazing. I'm pretty sure some insiders were paying attention as soon after she wrote a piece called something like our junk defenses are junk changes started happening. anyway you don't have to read many of her articles to stop blaming the defensive problems solely on the players.

Oh I understand that coaching was an issue with defense as well.

I forgot the presser was today and didn't watch it live, but it is up on Pacers.com now. in terms of personnel, he talked as if the starters would not be traded and the Mc's would be resigned. he mentioned Lamb but didn't mention the Holidays or the other young players but that may just because he doesn't know them as well. he did say he planned to stagger Turbonis more. he also said he'd work closely with the trainers to manage everyone's playing time to fit their individual situation in order to keep them healthy.

I was impressed that the press conference was just shy 3 minutes of an hour long. He covered a lot of ground about the past Pacers experiences and that he feels comfortable with management and the player conversations he’s had initially. He portrays that there’s a strong core of like minded players who are committed to winning now and he’s hoping they will sacrifice to strengthen the team. Of course we don’t know what personnel changes can be or will be made. He stated that he and Kevin/Chad have strong opinions on
acquiring types of players and argue their stances to make the best group decision for the team to improve. He likes scrappy McConnell and mentioned TJ Warren coming back for this season thus the optimism for a stronger team. You do get the feeling that they’re wanting to see what Rick will do implementing his offense and defense with a healthy team of well experienced players before entertaining big changes. Nobody asked and he didn’t elaborate on younger players such as Goga, Sumner, Martin, Brissett, Stanley. Brief mention of McDermott but didn’t elaborate as he did on McConnell a tad. No mention of the Holidays which I felt strange about no mention of Justin.

Press conference also indicated that they’re working on assistant coaches and should have news soon.

Sources: The Washington Wizards interviewed Hornets assistant Ronald Nored and Heat assistant Chris Quinn. Nored is also a potential candidate to join Rick Carlisle's staff with the Indiana Pacers.

Norad is a Butler man. If I remember right he had an aunt who lived near the campus.

I.....don't know what to make of that. He was horrible as a head coach in Atlanta. Maybe he is a better assistant? We had better hope so. Seems Coach Pop likes him.

Whenever I see his name, I think of an old country singer (Lloyd Price). Not a pleasant thought.

Pierce apparently has been very active in civil rights and Carlisle praised him for that work at the time of his firing. I have no idea though what his strengths and weaknesses are.

I sort of have the same question with Norad except I'd welcome "the Butler way."

Is either a Dan Burke or is a defensive x and o guy still to come?
