Like last year, some of the guys taken in the first should have been taken in the second and there were lottery talents taken in the 2nd. That’s why it hurt so much when Ainge traded out of #30. I’m of the opinion no matter where you pick, if you know how to draft, you’ll improve your team, even if it means replacing the end of bench guys. So we should easily be able to replace them this draft

hard to disagree with this.

So now "they are saying" Joshua Primo (youngest player) may be a late lottery pick??? he went from late 2nd to possible late lottery.. :D

I am telling you this draft will be all over the place.

NBA Draft Room's got us taking Tre Mann now.
https://nbadraftroom.com/p/2021-2nd-round/

Big swing, but I like it. Get that insane floor stretcher and hope he figures other things out. Like the basics: dribbling, defense, lol.

If Juzang stays in the draft and he is available in the 2nd round, I want the Celtics to trade up for him or buy a draft pick if available to get him.

I know. A month or so ago, I was hoping he'd be around at 16. :o

They have Thor, Duarte, Trey Murphy, McBride, Roko, Hyland, Primo, Todd all in non-lotto first now, so definitely some movement. I think they were all 2nd rounders before on that same site.

It happens.. sliders every year, and guys who shoot up in the predraft - just not to the same degree each time.

And mock drafters are never completely plugged in. Gerald Green was hyped as a top five pick when the league had a much cooler view of his talents. Ivan Chiriaev…

Trade Timelord to either Sac (9) or Char (11) and Smart to GS (14) and draft Jalen Johnson and JT Thor.. pick 45 draft Joe Wieskamp.

Start Tatum at pg, Brown, Nesmith, J Johnson with Horford at center.

Bench - PP , Romeo, Weiskamp, JT Thor, Moses.

Switchable wings who can all shoot.

Use Yam Madar when a pg is necessary.

And I am 100% serious..

Hey, Hal: For all your scouting of Yam in Israel this year, why didn't you give us an update on last year's leading scorer in his Israeli Premier League, former Celtics James Young?

Hard to believe as it is, Young is still only 25yo (as are current C's Tacko and Luke). But after his performance in Israel the Knicks signed Young before sending him down before the start of the season to Westchester and then, on March 8th, he signed back with another team in the Israeli league. (He only got in 3 regular season games there this spring, but averaged 4 assists per game while he was at it.)

Could he be on the Gerald Green trajectory?

Tatum in some circumstances could in a way play point, but he's not gonna be a guard.

Interesting. This is the first I am hearing that Mann could possibly slip all the way to 45.

Most mocks I have seen have him going in the 15-30 range. Some dude in the NBA draft forum on realgm was even saying the other day he could see Mann going no. 6
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

No stretch 4? That way Tatum slides down to the 3 and brown at the 2..

Wow. That's bold. Jalen Johnson, Thor and Wieskamp. That would be a really good trio to pull out of this draft.

Only thing about your plan is that is a VERY young team. 3 rookies, Romeo, Nesmith, Moses, Madar. 7 dudes who are 22 or younger and with tatum and pritchard that's 9 dudes who are 23 or younger. IDK about that man. The teams who go deep into the playoffs are typically veteran teams. People would consider this a rebuilding team..

I don't really want us to draft a center with our 1 and only pick, but Bassey looks really good. He'll probably be gone by 45 but you never know, he might fall:
Read on Twitter

Maybe he just did it to improve his draft stock, but Vrenz Bleijenbergh put 6'11" in his twitter bio. Previously he had been listed at 6'10". If he's really 6'11" he could be an intriguing pick at 45 as a guy who might be a top 5 passer in this draft and also a good shooter, can handle the ball and decent on D.

Vrenz's twitter bio says "6'11" SG/PG"..but he really could play 1-4, he had an 11.2% rebounding rate which is basically what Tatum and a lot of other 4's and big 3's average.

I think this draft will have more than the usual interesting undrafted prospects. Maybe the C's will latch onto a few of them for SL, camp and Maine.

I think we are sleeping on Matthew Hurt.

5 star recruit. Stretch big. Can easily hit NBA threes. Decent rebounder and passer.

Maybe we shouldn't over think this pick. Shooting bigs are a huge part of the game now and we don't really have any.

the overreaction to measurements or lack there of. 6'3.5 and a 6'4 wingspan hurt his stock. Davion Mitchell also measured at 6 ft even..so a possible slid coming.
