Here's Udoka's interview on 98.5 today: https://985thesportshub.com/podcasts/zolak-bertrand/
He did a good job. Some interesting comments on Marcus and Rob.

Re: Woj: Ime Udoka Named Head Coach
I haven't listened to his interview on the View from the Rafters podcast but I just read a little bit about what he said. I really love Ime so far. I'm just going to copy and paste these tidbits that were highlighted in a reddit post because I'm lazy and haven't listened to it myself yet as I said...
Brad reached out to him while Brooklyn was still in the playoffs, and the nets allowed him to do zoom interviews in between games against milwaukee which is not typical. Good on the Nets there.
When he got to Philly, Embiid would just goof around doing whatever during shoot arounds because no one there was going to tell him not to. Ime sat him down and said if he wants to be one of the greats, he needed to be more disciplined and take that time to work on specific things, and told him how Duncan would do it.
In Brooklyn, Nash and D'Antoni were both more laid back and KD/Harden/Kyrie would all come to Ime and say "coach us hard" and ask him to tell them how they were screwing up.
On team USA, most of the young guys were in awe of KD and the other superstars and Smart didn't give a bleep and was going straight at all of them.
Also on team USA, he talked with Brown and Tatum and told them the rest of the league saw them as potential superstars, so live up to that.
In general he talked a bunch about how his general philosphy was to just be honest, and that other coaches/players have always responded to that well.

Udoka ranks 3rd here. Talking heads are bullish on Ime making a real impact on the Cs. I hope he lives up to or even exceeds the hype.

Ranking Billups last because of the rape allegations 20+ years ago is a hatchet job. Portland fans may care about that, but the players don't. I don't think Portland has a roster good enough to go anywhere, but blame Oshley for that, not Billups.

So happy with Ime's position on this!!
Ime Udoka said the Celtics got a little chippy at practice today and he told them to let him be the one to “bitch at the refs.”
“We’re not gonna be a team that cries the whole time. That’s definitely not me.”

We stuffed up by giving up on arguably one the best basketball minds in today’s game for a guy with what can only be described as a low BBIQ.

Re: Woj: Ime Udoka Named Head Coach
Re the Ime criticisms:
• I think the calls for him to resign or get fired are just silly. A rookie coach doesn't learn all he needs to learn in a month on the job. The team's record also shouldn't fall all on the guy's shoulders especially when the team's best player is currently shooting worse than Westbrook (not a typo) and their top scorer has missed a few games.
• We should've brought in veteran assistant coaches to help Ime navigate the early days of his stint. But that's spilled milk now.
• I'm not usually critical of things like vets-over-rookies and rotations and timeout-calling. I'll leave that up to all of you, but I think most of his decisions are defensible. I do despise all-bench lineups (they're statistically proven to suck over the years) esp when team's already depleted due to injuries.
• For someone who announced to the whole world that he wants more ball movement (even jokingly mocked team's assist % under Stevens last season), the Celtics are sitting second in frequency in isolation scoring possessions (below average in efficiency) behind BKN who have Durant and Harden? The biggest culprits have been Tatum (went from 18.6% to 24.4% in frequency) and Schroder (doubled his frequency from previous season). Both are currently below average in efficiency. I'll try to be patient to see if he can coach the bad habits out of our main scorers, but he's off to a bad start in that regard.
• I'm more than satisfied with the progress the team has made defensively. The coaching staff has so far delivered on that end.

One more thing, and I may be totally off on this one since I don't really watch full interviews now. I'm just basing this off tweets. But I'm not fond of Ime calling out his guys in public while at the same time not owning part of the responsibility for the losses. Maybe it's just a facade/front and he's different in the locker room, but it comes off as arrogant to me or at the very least lacking in humility or self-awareness.

Didnt Ime learn to coach with DuncN playing PF?
Might explain his insistence on playing Tatum out of his natural position of pf.

I like him. But, his rotations and coaching are brutal.
He isn’t a value add like Brad.

Re: Woj: Ime Udoka Named Head Coach
Nothing special about Ime. What is there to learn actually? He has been an assistant for ages now. I think this is what he really is as a coach. Of course he could learn, and adapt, i hope, but nothing really to get excited about. Also, he never took responsibility on losses, and he looked fine throwing his team under the bus. If he continues with this, he will lose his players fast. Plus there are a lot of great coaches that did well from the get go. Enough with the excuses. If we are a good defensive team, then why do we keep losing big leads, and can’t seem to stop teams when it matters. Smh

Re: Woj: Ime Udoka Named Head Coach
I don't have issues Ime tbh. Players league. You got scrubs on your roster then you're gonna lose no matter who's coaching. Romeo, Grant, Nesmith, Juancho, Pritch, these aren't quality bench players. Danny really screwed this team his last couple of years. Drafts were just awful.
Just like last yr, if any main guys are hurt, forget it. Your teams in for a long night. Esp if your number 1 guy is playing so poorly.
