Very true but Payne was terrible here, Cleveland couldn't do anything with him and then he went to China. Came back in the bubble last year and was a different player than what he had previously been. He is an outlier of a story if there ever was one.
He's playing like the player that all the scouts and coaches who gave him a shot talked about him having the potential to be, but clearly he wasn't there yet.

I've known many a young sports talent who don't make it because they think they've made it well before they have actually made anything. All that talent and skill means nothing without the right mindset to go with it.

The Bulls clearly saw potential in Payne or they wouldn't have traded for him. They gave up on him in an era where the team had almost no player development function. I know that AKME has invested heavily in development. Hopefully, the Bulls will get better at recognizing NBA talent when they have it in their house.
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

Agreed and while I don't totally know about all other fan bases I would say that we as Bulls fans need to get better at expectations and timelines with developing players with potential.

As many have pointed out on here Payne was Tuuuurible when he was with the Bulls and I don't remember a single fan voice stating "stick it out guys he could be a hell of player in the play offs some day in the near future."
