I mean, if Keston finally has his head straight, Vogelbach and Cain come back, and you can get even mediocre production out of the platoon guys (JBJ, Urias, Peterson), then I think this offense is trending much closer to above-average than below-average. Stud pitching and a good mix of power and contact bats is basically the recipe of every small market World Series team in recent memory. I'd put them right in the mix.

Urias might be the permanent 3B of the future with the way he's playing.

The biggest thing that would help us get to average on offense right now would be Yelich being even a great bat (as compared to an MVP bat during his 2-season stretch). We've seen signs and I'm hoping he slowly keeps getting it back.

But agreed with the rest of the mentioned points, too. I'm not expecting an above-average offense unless Yelich really locks-in, but even an average offense with our pitching would be stellar.

Woodruff, Burnes, Peralta and Hader. Who makes the all star game.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think they'll give us three. Woody and Hader for sure. Not sure about Burnes or Peralta.

Devin Williams is a sneaky one to watch - he gets a lot of good publicity for his airbender and he's had a really good month.

Narvaez is also one to watch.

Woody and Hader for sure, but I have a sneaky suspicion it'll be Peralta as a third. Which mind you is deserved IMO, but Burnes is more of a "name" because of his 2020 season. But I do think we'll get three.

Agree Narvaez is possible, but not likely.

There will be at least one vacancy, since Woodruff is lined up to start on the final Sunday of the first half, and by rule will be ruled out to pitch in the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 13 at Coors Field.

This is such a poorly constructed sentence. I assume it means that he's ineligible to pitch in the all-star game because he's pitching 2 days prior, but it could also read that he's not allowed to pitch on Sunday because he's going to be in the all-star game.

In any case, if he's out of the All-Star game I know he gets to keep his designation, but I hope they replace him with Peralta. He sure seems deserving.

It's a bit confusing, but when in doubt, I read it with the defining clause right after - he'll "be ruled out to pitch in the all star game," rather than "ruled out of the game on Sunday to pitch in the all star game."

It's really not. It says in the sentence "will be ruled out to pitch in the All-Star Game on Tuesday." It's also not like MLB is going to tell a team you have to start a pitcher on short rest or skip his start so he can pitch an inning in an exhibition game. Imagine missing spot in the playoffs by one game because your team had to skip a pitcher's start. Would never happen.

If we went back to a 5 man rotation he would pitch Saturday but I don't think CC will do that.

1. Of course I didn’t believe they’d force a team to sit a player. Come on, twirly.

2. It very much so reads that way, though. The part you quoted doesn’t help your argument. They should at least have said ruled out OF pitching in the all star game.

3. I am being pedantic.

Still has three plus years of control. Was great in 2020 but sucked this season. Gonna LOL if this is another Adames.

I always trust Stearns and I know that depth is a thing, interleague, maybe next year's DH...but what do you do with Vogelbach now? Are they just going to keep one of them in the minors if you have an option on one of them? Kinda clones.

Richards also felt like a "key" pitcher as a fringy decent reliever but I'm assuming they'll acquire a few more over the next 2-3 weeks.

Hits RH and LH pretty evenly so maybe that's it.

I guess it's another above average bat to use. He starts quite a bit and you've got some thunder off the bench with Vogelbach or maybe Hiura. Rowdy can also be used as a pinch hitter otherwise.
