How many times he has needed to prove people wrong? He ALWAYS has been clutch and has played as one of the best PGs ever.

So many **** around here comparing him to Ricky Rubio (I can not believe it yet) or saying that he was old, overpaid, small, injury prone and a lot of more ****...
COME ON NOW!!!!!

Big props to him. I am really proud to watch a unique player like him as a Sun. So special.

Yeah, SO happy for him. And so glad we traded for him, and I was a little hesitant when we had to include the pick, but that sounds stupid now.

What he has been able to do for all our players, especially with Ayton, but also with Booker and his bigger commitment to defense, helping out Payne progress, and just keeping all of our players locked in, you cannot put a value on.

If we're talking about the last 2 decades (essentially since 2000) what does the PG ranking look like? Magic, Stockton, Jerry West, Isiah were all before my time so I can't really speak to them but in the last 2 decades you have to include guys like:

Nash (2000's)
Steph (2010's - now)
Kidd (early 2000's)
CP3 (late 2000's-now)
Dame (mid 2010's - now)
Iverson (early 2000's)
Westbrook (2010's)
Kyrie (mid 2010s)
Tony Parker (mid 2000's - early 2010s)

How would you rank them? Anyone else I missed?

The top 4 are tough. Then Dame. Then probably Kyrie followed by Westbrook.

This list is tough, I'm not even sure who's in my top 4.

This is a tough one but I'll try.

1. Steph
2. Nash
3. Chris Paul
4. Kidd
5. Iverson
6. Westbrook
7. Lillard
8. Tony Parker
9. Kyrie

2-4 are all in the same tier I think.

I think Nash should have retired as a Phoenix Sun, regardless of his age and back. There are certain players that teams just need to keep around ala Dirk with the Mavs. Is CP3 this type of player? Should he ride off into the Suns-set???

I have the feeling that CP3 will play 3 more years with us and retire a Sun. After that, he will accept some kind of management role and maybe a coach position in the near 3-4 years after his retirement.

The Knicks GM or President was CP3’s previous agent or something like that as well.

He didn't want to like KJ and some others in the past did that you should know about. I think CP3 does too and much of our core now, but obviously that can change.

Nash didn't seem all that loyal. He took the money to leave his best friend in Dallas and then left for our rival in LA when it suited him.

I would love that but I think he will get a head coaching offer the year after he retires, like Kidd did. If not, we need him as an assistant.

If for some reason Monty retired, which I doubt, I'd want him as head coach with this group.

BUT, if we paid him a lot, which would be worth it, he might potentially prefer an assistant head coach job if he has a house and his family in Scottsdale already. You never know.

I think agent posturing. I think if we hard negotiated, he would not want to leave.

Anyway, I think he may do things in a way that allows us to keep our other key guys. He won't, in the end, want to go to NY, even for more money.

If they keep us the posturing, it should be leaked 'Suns considering Lowry if Paul and Suns cannot come to an agreement'.

I doubt it comes to all that though.

Yeah I think he ends up staying too. The agent connection is the only that is worthy of noting. Begley connects a lot of players to the Knicks though and rarely does it come to fruition. He’s already done Lillard soon after mentioning CP3.

Even if CP3 were to hypothetically leave, I’m not sure Kyle Lowry is the one to target. I think better solution would be to find a younger solution in FA or the draft and re-sign Payne to possibly be the stop gap starter PG for the time being.

I don’t think CP3 will leave either though.

BTW, Chris Paul is leading the league in total assists (71) and assists per game (11.8) so far this season.

If he played every game for the next two seasons, which is 76+82. or 158 games, and avg 10 assists per game, and get 1,580, he'd get awfully close to Kidd.

If he plays another season after next, he should make it to 2nd unless he is injured and out for a lot of that time.

Yeah but if he does play for 3 more years, that's 240 games, and he averages 20 assists per games, he'd still fall about 700 assists shy of taking over #1.
