Kai Jones defends the perimeter like that as well....but also takes (and makes) 3's, is also a little taller, has a much longer standing reach and is 2 1/2 years younger than Sims.

They both do have pretty awesome 1st names and killer hair though.

I should have mentioned I wouldn’t take sims at 11, I like him as a late steal if we don’t draft a big at 11

I agree... but for reasons outside of him being TALENTED enough. I believe he is talented enough to be an eleventh pick but I wouldn't take him there for a few reasons.

1. he is 22 (which is not that bad but most often opt for a tad younger

2. we should be able to get him later so there is the whole WHY REACH thing...

3. I forgot what the third point was lol. If I drank I could blame it on that but I don't drink. I guess I will say I am either dumb or old. Welp old it is lmao.

Yeah, interesting thing about this clip of Sims defense you posted is I have the guy in it who Sims is guarding as consideration for us as far as inviting to summer league goes. That player is Austin Reaves. Austin aint too shabby... This is Austin against Suggs, Ayayi, and Gonzaga... I am a fan of his and hope he gets an invite.

Ziaire Williams is shooting up my boards. He didn't have a great year at Stanford, but a lot of outside factors affected his game. I see lot of Jayson Tatum in him. I wouldn't be shocked if he becomes that mid- first round pick that ends up becoming a superstar. Still take Moody and Bouknight over him, but if they are both gone (and to be honest they probably will be) by 11, then I would just say screw it and swing for the fences on him.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

I love that Kupchak brings in players that could go at any point of the draft to undrafted. It's such a refreshing change from the Rich Cho days. He actually puts in the work to ensure he's prepared for all scenarios on draft day.

A few players on this list are favorites of mine.

Bouknight - I used to be such a stan lol. Still a fan tho

Maker - dunno why but I think hes a favorite of everyones lol

Charles Bassey - if he can overcome his injury he can be a solid center. I have him, Sandro and Jericho as good steal possibilites.

DJ Carton - I LOVE his game. Very fun player to watch. He and Garcia were reasons I watched Marquette this year. I will add him in my depth chart.

Josh Primo - My pick this year for #11.

I know we talk about this every year

And I forget immediately

But what is the correlation between Pre-draft workout and being selected by the Hornets?

Has every Kupchak pick been brought in?

Great question...

From quick glance I think M.K. is 50/50 or so with who he selects with bringing in players for workouts...

players who were brought in -
bridges
Mcdaniels
Martins

graham - they intervied him not sure about workout

players who weren't -
pj
grant riller
Vernon Carey JR

there are a few other players but this was just a quick glance. I still LOVE seeing certain players being brought in because at least those players are being considered. They wouldn't hardly waste their time

I think it’s been better these last few years.

For a longggggggggggg time (crica Cho) it seemed we ended up often drafting someone who had never worked out for us or we had been linked to in any way.

Cho was drafting people like the way they drafted Woody Harrilson in WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP when he was getting off the train lmao.

What I like about Primo is that they more than likely are looking at him due to him not being in their draft range at all. He is slated to go late 1st early 2nd. So they might be considering trading back.

Has anyone mentioned the taller, euro Giddey?

7 foot in shoes, very mobile, good handle, shoots from outside.

Chad Ford with the intriguing names this morning.

It’s clearly against smaller competition but this guy looks like a freaking monster. Dwight Howard with a softer touch

Yes, have at least once. (I think I posted the same clip in the page before this not sure...). I like you were VERY impressed when I saw his smooth game and style. He is in my Signature as far as who I want at pick 57... I really like his game. He was a favorite of mine for about a week then I backed off. (not backed off of being a favorite bit one of THE favorites). I think he would be a steal. I have seen some mocks with him as high as a top 35 pick but I am hoping we can get him at 56.

For those interested, some of those prospects - incl. some potential lottery picks from the us teams - do play during the U19 (not the dutch guy though)
Games can be followed on youtube(it should be in late afternoon or in the evening for most since its in Latvia).

There are prospectsfrom USA (obviously Holmgren), Lithuania, Spain (not sure), France, Australia (Diop can tell us about them), Serbia at the very least.
In the last U19, i guess 3 players of the list were drafted (incl. Carey here and above all Haliburton who had an awesome tournament - which is were i discovered him - and kira lewis) and they also had suggs, cunningham, Mobley among others (roster here)

Even if he wont be drafted, there is a japanese pg with crazy handles and crafty playmaking skills (#14 Iwashita). Fun to watch during the 1st game, curious to see if he keeps playing as well.

For those who wonder, yes Wembanyama is playing for France. Unfortunaltey we did not send the best team we could (Batcho, Dieng, Diabate missing among others). But it would be fun to have an Homlgren/Wembanyama match up, we'll see

Wow, I didn't think pick 20 lol. I might as well remove him from #57 and at least put him in at #56 lmao. Well I am glad it's a deep draft so I have good backups at SF in Johnny Juzang and Aaron Wiggins.

Interesting, indeed.

IDK, drafting Wagner would fall into my "disappointed" category. Another 6'9" wing and his athleticism concerns me. There are worse players to take, so it's not the end of the world....just not who I hope we draft.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
