Pacers Reportedly Offered Brogdon For Simmons

Post#1 » by OnFire » Fri Jul 2, 2021 11:48 pm

We "reportedly" offered Brogdon + FRP for Ben Simmons... which was rejected by the 76ers. :o

Here are links:

https://sixerswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/02/sixers-reportedly-reject-pacers-trade-offer-for-star-guard-ben-simmons/

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10006949-report-ben-simmons-trade-for-pacers-malcolm-brogdon-1st-rounder-rejected-by-76ers

Prob getting a feel for what it'll take. But that it's Daryl Morey on the other end, it won't be easy. Also that this is out, have to wonder how Brog will take to it.

Excited with the thought, though. 8-) Not entirely about the reported offer but the seeming aggressiveness coming out of the FO.

Exciting times ahead.

Yes, if the reports are to be believed, it's exciting to know that Pacers are being proactive in trying to trade for a star

After the season the Pacers just had, nobody on the roster has earned the right to be untouchable.

Nice try, I must say. For all we know, Malcolm might be wanting that to happen as well.

Philly said they will only trade Simmons for an all-star. Understandable, but they can definitely get a bunch of relevant non-all stars for him plus picks and build around Embiid. That might be a faster route to the finals than having to wait for Simmons to develop outside shooting.

Anyone want to bet that KP denies the offer ever happened?

For what it is worth, I don't believe the offer ever happened.

If we do get Simmons, I want to move Sabonis and not a guard so Ben can play the 4.

J. Michael Falgoust: While #Pacers are open to moving down from 13 or packaging it in a deal, Im told there havent been any talks w/#Sixers who are angling for Lillard. For context about Pacers, they avoid albatross contracts. Had a deal in place for Conley 2 yrs ago nixed by Simon. Too much salary

Found this tonight.

Could’ve possibly been discussed in a broad idea gathering phase, and maybe at a lower level (like AGM to AGM), too. Or maybe not ever discussed. But, reports have been consistent that guys know when they’re being discussed in talks, but Brogdon hasn’t been notified of that. Myles knew before he was talked about in the Boston talks last year. :dontknow:

It’s interesting reading the 76ers forum and some people liked the Brogdon and a first as a backup deal but what they really want is a top notch scorer in CJ McCollum, Beal, Lillard to pair with Embid. They’re a bit split on keeping Simmons. They’re not really high on Tobias Harris. Say he’s just a good player but are looking for a difference maker from any deal Morey makes. Don’t like Sabonis lol.

Also I never realized how active some other teams forums are on real GM. Was the Pacers sight ever highly active ? As long as I’ve been watching it I haven’t noticed huge participation.

Pacer topics get longer threads on the Trade and the General Forums than they do here. I've always preferred this forum to others on the web because of the high signal to noise ratio. We don't have many messages but what we have are thoughtful.

It is like having a TV service without all the "reality" shows.

Uh, we’ve never been one of the largest forums here in terms of activity. I wouldn’t say we’ve ever been too half. We had a lot of activity around the mid 2000’s, especially around the Brawl. Historically, our volume has always been split with Pacers Digest in the past, and now Reddit. I would say we’re clearly more of a quality forum while Reddit is more of a quantity forum.

I’d say we’re more PBS here. We might have a reality show or two, but it’s This Old House, based in fact

That's a polite way of calling Reddit a complete **** show. It's not limited to the Pacers sub though.

HA! I like that. I like This Old House too. Going further with that thought. This forum is more like BBC World News (in tone and tenor) than like most all other cable news networks.

PD isn't any better either.

PD mods called Nuntius a troll for posting statistics.
