Starting to get to the "we're losing Powell and throwing MLE money at Blake Griffin" part of the off-season. :(
Dame/Blake/Melo could really make some noise... in 2015.

If they are not trading CJ, that suggests that either Powell has told NO that he is not signing or the owner has told NO that she is not paying the dough to resign Powell.

If that's the case it's probably time to trade Dame and start collecting assets. The **** -show surrounding the team if Portland doesn't try to improve the roster and instead loses assets in the process will be absolute chaos.

Blazers bringing in Michael Beasley for Summer League. This really lifts my optimism. :nonono:

I may stop using Olshey's name from now on and replace it with :clown:

Hey guys, Celtics fan here, coming in peace. I would like to ask a question. What are your thought on Covington coming up on his last year under contract. Is he a major part of the team, or would he be available in a trade for a big man and filler ? I saw where Collins fractured his foot again and thinking Portland may be looking for another big to go with Nurkic. I also know that Kanter is a FA, but he should be signed if the money is right. I was throwing around the idea of Covington to Boston for Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams and Carson Edwards to make the salaries fit. Boston could throw some cash in to cover Edwards contract if you want to wave him. Any thought would be great.

Covington was one of the Blazers best defenders which is something they are trying to get better at. So I think the only ways Covington is traded is for a clear upgrade, or if Lillard is traded. Both are not likely. Blazers will probably want another center who can play defense though.

RoCo gives us something we need. None of those would.

No thank you.

We gave up 2 first round picks for RoCo for 2 seasons, so let's start with a first round pick for his current value.

Realistically though, were highly unlikely to trade him assuming Dame stays (i.e. we don't blow it up).

Here's something that will never happen, but IMO should and could... MY Blow-It-Up Plan(two trades):

Portland trades: Dame / CJ / Nurkic / Jones Jr.
Boston trades: Brown / Thompson / Pritchard / FFRP
Philadelphia trades: Simmons / Hill

Portland gets: Brown / Thompson / Pritchard / Simmons / Hill
Boston gets: Dame / Nurkic / Jones Jr.
Philadelphia gets: CJ / FFRP

YOUR 2021/2022 BLAZERS:

Simons / Pritchard / Hill
Brown/ Powell
ROCO / Little / CJ
Simmons / Melo / Giles
Love / Thompson / Kanter

Not sure that team makes the playoffs in the west.

Simons can’t run a team.

imo if we blow it up ( i know wont happen ) dame should be traded last or almost last otherwise the value of the other players would get less and less.
and no kevin love for me, if we blow it up i want younger players and picks coming back

IMO that would be a huge undersell on our part. Dame alone should be worth Brown and 2-3 1st round picks, at minimum.

In any case, Dame's not getting traded this summer. This is likely our last chance to build around him, and we should make everyone else available. If we fail to improve and he wants out next summer, he'd still be under contract for 2-3 more years and we could still get a massive return for him then. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, I would much rather see us build a contender this coming season and have Dame play all of his prime years as a Blazer.

Wish we had a draft pick. It feels so empty looking at the draft not knowing if we will even get into the second round. Cant even justify making a thread for prospects like usual.

We only wanted win now pieces but given our cap situation we need those rookie contract guys so it’s a double edged sword we cut ourselves with

I just don’t get the brown hype. He seems like a dead stats kind of guy with less of a potential ceiling and older than barrett so from that respect id so much rather deal with NY in a barrett + glut of picks (some far out enough to entice us) sort of deal.

Now simmons for cj i do in a second

Thanks for the input guys. I didn't realize RoCo meant so much to your team. So, if it were just Thompson, do you see anyone you could possibly trade for without making this a huge deal (involving Lillard, CJ, Brown, or Smart) or involving picks ?

For RoCo? No, we badly need a player like that. If we traded him we would have to still go out and get someone to fill his role.

You could get DJJ pretty cheap who was supposed to fill a similar role for us and hope your coach can get more out of him than Stotts was able, although I am also hoping our new coach can better utilize him and build up his value a bit.

It's hard to know what a Billups coached team looks like but here are some ideas to discuss:

Trade 1: Dallas - New Orleans - Portland

Portland trades:

CJ McCollum
Robert Covington
$5 million to New Orleans

Portland receives:

Brandon Ingram
#34 pick
#40 pick

We get another go-to guy in Ingram. A natural SF BI is both an excellent spot up shooter at 1.23 PPP (behind Simon at 1.49 and CJ at 1.38 who were 2nd and 5th respectively in the NBA) and a good iso player at .9 PPP (behind Dame and CJ who were 4th and 5th in the NBA at 1.11 and 1.09 respectively. He's also a decent defender and an excellent one when locked in.

Additionally the Blazers create a TPE of $12.9 million (which we probably won't use as this would hard cap us or disallow us to use the MLE) and two early 2nds for max cash to the low revenue Pelicans

Dallas trades:

Kristaps Porzingis

Dallas receives:

Robert Covington
Eric Bledsoe

The Mavs get two guys who can be great compliments to Luka while moving the zingers long contract. The Mavs can choose to be major players in free-agency next off-season

New Orleans trades:

Brandon Ingram
Eric Bledsoe
#34 pick
#40 pick

New Orleans receives:

CJ McCollum
Kristaps Porzingis
$5 million from Portland

The Pels make this teams unequivocally Zion's. CJ is one of the league's best pick and roll ball handlers and his shooting from both deep and mid-range will result in a lot of easy points for Zion or CJ. With Porzingis spreading the floor off ball and also be a great pick and pop guy the Pelicans get stronger

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade 2: Houston - Portland

Houston trades:

#23 pick

Portland trades:

#34 and #40

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draft:

#23 - Chris Duarte - SG Oregon - We draft the oldest player in the draft who is also NBA ready from day 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

new salary season
assumptions
Luxury Tax Threshold: $132,627,000
apron: $138,928,000

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade 3: Orlando - Portland

Orlando trades:

Terrence Ross

Portland trades:

Derrick Jones Jr
Nassir Little

We trade two exciting young players for a local vet who is an elite off-screen shooter with a solid dribble drive game who can play either SG or SF

Free-agency

- re-sign Norman Powell to a 4 year/$70million contract
- MLE: Bobby Portis - 2020/21 stats: 11.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.1 apg, 52.3 FG%, 47.1 3P% - Portis chooses the Blazers for a chance to start
- BAE: Giorgiu Dieng
- Carmelo Anthony - vet min
- Frank Ntilikina - vet min
- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson - vet min
- Zach Collins - decline option
- Myers Leonard - vet min

Roster

PG: Lillard, Ntilikina
SG: Powell, Simons, Duarte
SF: Ingram, Ross, Elleby
PF: Portis, Melo, RHJ
C: Nurkic, Dieng, Leonard
