Definite value prospects that we should be watching play in this workout in Minnesota.
Late 2nd - undrafted pool prospects-
Jose Alvarado-
superb two way point guard with relentless defense and great two way skillset. He's actually a big time two way impact player for his size that does all the little things that help a team win!! He averaged close to 3 steals per game, and has some real parallels to Paul himself in terms of accolades. Also plays at Georgia tech just like Paul did.
Rayquan Gray-
6'8 power forward ( thick build) with great two way potential. Strong playmaking skills, Good ballhandling skills, and a strong motor defensively. He's built similarly to Lebron James, And like James, Also has guard skills and great court vision. Could create incredible mismatches with his mix of power and mobility?
Sam Hauser-
An absolute knockdown shooter at 6'8 with a high IQ and good versatility. Very much in the Bojan Bogdanovic mold. One of the best shooters in all of college basketball. He's very clutch, And also has one of the quickest releases on his jumpshot in college basketball. Had a 63% TS % over 41% from three and 89% on his free throws over his 4 yr career at Virginia. Offers extreme value as a knockdown shooter.
Jay Huff-
A very long and mobile 3 and D big with a high IQ, Great shotblocking, and a solid 3 pt shot (38%). He's very long at 7'1 with a 7'5 wingspan, moves very well, And has excellent timing on his shotblocking. Just needs to get stronger.
Marcus Garrett-
A 6'5 high motor guard with elite defensive potential. Offense is still a work in progress, But basically is a mix of Josh Richardson/ Pat Beverly. Offers great value as a multipositional defender in the backcourt.
Draft and stash high end talent-
Ibou Dianko Badji-
A very long ( 7'1 with a 7'8 wingspan) otherworldly athletic game changing center on the defensive end. Still very raw. But has nice footwork, solid mobility and a developing offensive game. He has the potential to become a more athletic version of Gobert, Which is extreme value for an undrafted or draft and stash prospect.
Vrenz Bleijenbergh-
A very fluid 6'10 - 6'11 wing with impressive playmaking, guard skills and a smooth jumpshot. He needs to add more weight and strength, And he needs to improve his efficiency. He'd be incredible as a frontcourt playmaker to keep.our offense flowing from both the frontcourt and backcourt. He'd also create an unbelievable size mismatch in the backcourt alongside of Booker, during those instances, where ed in Paul may sit and Payne slides over to 6th man microwave scorer for our bench. In those situations, We could go with Point Book and another defensive ball handler in the backcourt with him, And run a dual playmaking offense from BOTH the backcourt and frontcourt. Also the mismatches as either goes in the post, And using his size in the pick n roll with either Booker or Ayton could be devastating for opponents. He does need a bit more seasoning and strength to be added, But he's definitely a high potential prospect in the Toni Kukoc/ Hedo Turkgolu mold, And another great value high upside prospect as a potential undrafted or draft and stash prospect.

We able to keep Payne ... likely
Able to sign Craig ... 50/50 as some team could get biddy
Retain Carter... think he goes only in a trade package, which I don’t see happening as there is no desperation with Jones (or in other words, Saric stays)
I think we sign Nader cheap ( there is something about him they really like...might be our most athletic?)
release the Shank to make room. Smith moves into his role of not playing much, basically injury insurance. Minutes are going to be hard to come by.
Jones might get vet generous again with Moore or LG.
If Payne, Craig, Nader, Carter remain... then Priority should be a big. Remember Jones’ last minute grab with that 7 ft cup of coffee last yr? Seems the same need is present.
Oh yeah... and CP stays. Find an undrafted PG to work in his shadow, but use this pick on the best big and go the way of according to Jones. Gotta trust the guy at this point. Decisions/options are plenty
“Amazing, amazing, amazing blessing,” Alvarado said Tuesday, after he worked out for the Golden State Warriors along with Yellow Jackets teammate Moses Wright. “Just to have all these jerseys on, the workouts I’ve been to, it’s a dream come true.”
To perform before NBA decision makers, Alvarado has traveled across the country to work out for scouts and coaches. The itinerary has included Milwaukee, Memphis, New York and Golden State. That’ll be followed by Utah, New Orleans, Phoenix, Toronto and Dallas.
In his team workouts, Alvarado has tried to show off the strengths that enabled him to lead Tech to win the ACC championship and for him to win conference defensive player of the year – his defensive ability, energy, competitiveness and leadership. He said his shot also has “definitely” improved. (He was 3-for-6 at the G League camp on NBA-distance 3-pointers.)

How can you not strongly consider a 6'11 extremely fluid big with a 7'8 1/2 wingspan whose also hitting close to 40% on threes!!!
extreme value high end talent G league draft and stash!![]()

This kid has Giannis potential!!!
We need to draft and stash one of these three under the radar prospects on a two way to be developed in the G league to add to our future core!
1- EJ Onu.
2- Ibou Dianko Badji.
3- Vrenz Bleijenbergh.
Minimal investment ( Two Way contract) / High reward???
Ghost of Kleine wrote:I completely agree man! I'm talking about with a late 2nd or from the undrafted pool on a two way contract. Tyshon Alexander is on one still ( not sure how much longer he has on it though) But we still have one for use, As we're allowed 2 I believe?
** We could then have them developed in a more professional setting, And either add them to our core when ready. We continue to contend with Paul whilst they develop, And once Paul leaves, We can either choose to add them to our core of the future, Or build up their value through playing time and flip them for a young up and coming talented point guard, Or another key veteran piece to help us sustain relevance.

We don't have a second round pick.
Unless you think once again we will buy one, even though we are way over the cap, a finals team with a ton of vets, a pretty full roster and a couple young guys developing.
But undrafted, yeah, maybe for a 2 way contract.
I think we probably draft a guy for our roster at 29 and then sign one more guy on a 2 way along with Ty'Shon again...but it might be more likely to sign someone who is already playing in the G league and looked good than an undrafted rookie, which is a real crapshoot.

Yeah, But I was more looking at us picking up a mid to late 2nd, Or extracting value from the undrafted pool even.Unless you think once again we will buy one, even though we are way over the cap, a finals team with a ton of vets, a pretty full roster and a couple young guys developing.
Again though, we're obviously not going to be bringing back everyone. And the cost would be at worst minimal! Even if we lose two guys, Those are open spots to be considered?
**Personally, For the record, I think that If Saric doesn't really perform/ step up his game in this next series, And prove his contractual worth, We'll indeed look to offload him around the draft for cap relief ( expirings) and a potential asset if possible.
There are a number of very plausible scenarios available for just that purpose honestly.Just a few teams that immediately come to mind with possible interest would be:
1- Detroit
Saric for Joseph and the 52nd pick.
https://fanspo.com/nba/s/suns/trades/RlqhKVJz6f1UPm/cap-relief-trade
2- Toronto
Saric for Baynes ( expiring contract) and the 47th pick.
https://fanspo.com/nba/s/suns/trades/G2nIsqyUrya_JV/baynes-comes-home-2
or you could do Saric for Baynes ( expiring contract) And the 47th pick.
-Hood ( expiring contract) and the 46th pick too. Both are expiring contracts this upcoming season.
3-Indiana
Saric for Lamb ( expiring contract) and the 60th pick.
https://fanspo.com/nba/s/suns/trades/XfjhFpvWeO2hHv/lamb-for-saric-swap
4-New Orleans
Saric absorbed for the 53rd pick.
https://fanspo.com/nba/s/suns/trades/hrEEVhG6S_1GmX/sunspels-trade
5-Philly
Saric for Hill ( expiring contract) and the 50th pick.
https://fanspo.com/nba/s/suns/trades/_-1a-lnGnOO6y_/hill-for-saric-swap
6-Boston
Saric for Thompson and the 45th pick.
All trades would save us Sarics' 3rd yr salary, And IF Paul decided to opt out and give us a discount in yr 1 of an extension, With the assurance of an additional yr, We could likely slip under the tax. Regardless, We've got to start cutting payroll and create flexibility somehow. And preferably sooner rather than later. Replacing some under performers or players that won't be returning anyways with lower cost players achieves this, Along with affording us a bit more flexibility to possibly upgrade at other positions this summer too.
But undrafted, yeah, maybe for a 2 way contract.
Even IF we keep Alexander, We'll have one open two way spot. And If we don't, That's two. But i'd be ok, even if they looked to the G league, As I'm sure Jones will find a real gem. Still, The fact that they're choosing to bring in Mitchell and Alvarado for workouts, Would somewhat indicate to me, The possibility that they'll consider late 2nd to undrafted prospects as well.At least to fill our 2nd available two way perhaps?
