Granted Simmons has done sweet FA to improve his game in the 1/2 court, but we still haven't seen this guy with a starting calibre PG. I'd be offloading Harris for this piece, then give it till the trade deadline.
If Sixers want to knock over the Nets, Simmons is the dude that you need. If he's PJ Tucker on offense thats all he needs to be very effective in the half court
Bucks were able to beat the Nets because they can play better on defense than Sixers and also play better on offense than Sixers.
Giannis, middleton and sometimes Jrue carried them on offense. I dont even see how Embiid could be as reliable as Middleton or even Giannis in crunch time.
Why do Sixers need Ben to beat the Nets? For his defense?
There are two mindsets we have to change in order to win.
1.) Embiid should play with someone who’s better than him on offense
2.) We have to learn to beat great offense by greater offense, and stop relying on defense to carry us
Until then, if we keep relying on Embiid and defense to lead us to a championship it will just gonna be a repeat of every playoff series since 2018.
Great team in regular season.
Great team in first round
Great team in the first to third quarter of second round
Problematic team in the fourth quarter of second round
Embiid and defense are both not that powerful on crucial moments in the toughest playoff battles. They’re not 0 but they are not as powerful as they are compared to regular season or on non crucial moments in the playoffs.
Embiid is reduced to be a jump shooter down the stretch. No, he is not a good roll man off PnR nor can he get the calls if he tries to bait for fouls with his drives.
Then on the other end, defense is powerless against guys like Durant or guards who are great at using screens like CP3 or Trae.
You really need to have great offense before you can start talking about defense.
..Well unless if your standard is just making it to the second round.
